Joined a few months ago and still learning the game. Really friendly, casual atmosphere. Course is great. We really enjoy the lake views on the back 9. The owners are always nice and the fees super-reasonable. Almost every time we play we see the local family of deer running across the course and hanging out.

Played this course today (7/30/22). The greens are very good. Half of them i would say phenominal. The course has come such a long way in the past 3-4 months. I wish i would have taken a pic of the 17th green. So perfect. Fairways and tee boxes still coming along but if the greens are good ill play here every day.

We thought we would give this place a try cause it's somewhat close to the house, and had seen an offer for unlimited golf for 49/year for 3 years... Well the adage of you get what you pay for is true. Thankfully we played only 9 holes. The location and layout of the course appears to have potential, but the execution, at this stage, is poor. There are basically no fairways, the ground is baron and rough on every hole from tee to green, and even when you hit it down the middle, your likely having to nudge your ball off the middle of the fairway sand pits or onto an actual tuft of grass. The greens bounce so much its impossible to gauge speeds of your putts, but I will say the greens had at least somewhat recently been aeriated so that likely played a role in some of the bounce. However at least 3 or 4 of the greens of the 9 holes we played had extensive damage and it was basically like having a sand trap in the middle of the green, where large sections of the green was dead. I just found myself frustrated at every turn. I mean if you live in Quinlan or out that direction, sure it would be worth 49 bucks a year, just to get driving practice, and a little chipping practice in, but I could go play Waterview, Mesquite, firewheel, and a few others about the same distance and get real golf courses. This course tries to be a real course, and it sounds like they have new owners, so maybe in time it will get there... It's just not for me.

I would highly recommend this golf course, even for those who aren’t passionate about golfing! I had never golfed before, and visited Deer Run a few weeks back. I had a fantastic time getting away from the city, and relaxing in the beautiful scenery. It was truly a tranquil location that anyone could enjoy, golfer or not. Driving around in the golf carts, you could spot the beautiful deer which fill the course, quietly nibbling on plant life or sprinting across the lush fields. Not only was the course itself beautiful, but the management was excellent. The hosts were fantastic and friendly, checking in on us and making sure we were enjoying ourselves. Can’t wait to visit again! Who knows? I may even pick up golfing as a hobby just to keep coming back!

$25 with cart. It's not a great course. But you just want to practice your game it's a good place to go for 25 bucks
