My father stayed at The Elmhurst from October 18th 2021 to December 27 2021. He received excellent level of care from The Elmhurst Staff with respect to physical therapy, occupational therapy and general skilled nursing facility. This location, led by Alexis Weiss, provides wonderful, compassionate care. Armstrong, Roza, Jasmine and numerous other RNs. LPNs, PT/OT staff and administration made this experience a positive one for my father.

My Dad spent a week rehabilitating from a stroke. Elmhurst took very good care of him. About 7 months ago, a new administration was started. Many improvements. When reading these reviews, check the dat they were posted.

You will NOT get the best of the best when it comes to quality healthcare at this facility. What you will notice first is that the floors have carpet. That should raise an eyebrow because it is a bad idea for any healthcare setting that is not a waiting area. They even have carpet where the patients eat. You have any idea how many germs pass around a healthcare setting? Their carpet does NOT get shampooed often. For obvious sanitary reasons, dirty carpets like that are a nightmare for anyone with allergies. Since it’s a public place, people generally dirty the carpet just from coming outside stepping onto the floors and of course no one would dare take off their shoes. Your feet will stay cleaner keeping them on. Next Step got cheap with caring for patients. They replaced moist wipes with wash cloths instead. Think about how disgusting that is when it’s time to clean up feces. Not exactly a very sanitary method to care for patients. Especially the ones who have c-diff! You will always notice that the floors where the patient’s rooms are usually smell like feces and urine. It’s gross! It’s also not a safe environment from strangers. Just about everybody knows the passcodes for the doors by the elevators. They are also always understaffed with nurses and CNAs. The management (Director of Nursing Lisa) in particular does not treat the staff very well. She beats up on the Nurses and is pretty rude to anyone she is not friends with. She doesn’t come to work very happy. She is clearly doing this job strictly for the money. Those kind of people are always easy to spot and it does have a negative impact when it comes to quality healthcare. She is the kind of nurse that does not like to work too closely with patients. She would rather be in her office than on the floors with patients. If a family member calls her for report on how a patient is doing, she gets easily Agitated. What more could you expect from someone who is only in it for the money? You will find the patients call bell lights are always going off in their rooms frequently and for a very long time when they need help. Especially the ones who are stuck in the bathroom and can’t help themselves. There isn’t enough full-time nurses or CNAs.There are many times the patients pee/poop on themselves when they are in the hallway or out of their rooms because no one seems to have the time to help them go to the bathroom or there is not enough staff members to cater to how many patients are there. Mind you this is only a 45 bed facility and their performance really isn’t as sharp or as busy as it should be. When there was any falls, management would try to cover it up or at most delay any records being released to anyone to avoid being sued by families or fined by the state. Seniors do have falls, unless it was done in a public place unable to avoid being reported, they would try to hide it. There is only a handful of good people in the rehab department. The disgusting part is that Kelly, the one with the short masculine haircut in the tomboy outfit is a real redneck who runs the rehab department and her and her associates are always making fun of the patients who have a hard time recovering, can’t keep up pace with their recovery speed or have low self esteem and suffer depression. You will see her and her associates sitting around being pretty lazy playing on their iPads or watching TV. It’s also not a diverse community. Only diversity you will see is with the LPNs/CNAs and cleaning staff. Maintenance guy is also super nice. The administrative staff is extremely prejudice, hypocritical, and corrupt. Particularly the Activities girl Kirsten. She hates getting too close to residents. She says they are so gross. Well excuse me, whether you like it or not we are all going to get old someday. The bottom line is this, this is NOT a place of compassion and dedication to the highest of quality care as it should be. It’s the complete opposite.

Yes. 7816629500 or 7816627500. If it's someone you love think twice. You will only get a tour on the day shift. At night, 3-11,11-7, only one nurse, 1 aide per floor.
