A number of years ago, Weis was my go-to grocery store. Unfortunately, a number of things have changed, and not for the better: their prices used to tend toward the lowest in town - not any more. They used to be convenient for grabbing a quick snack - but their salad bar, which was excellent, went away with COVID; their fresh bagels are usually less than fresh; and they got rid of their coffee bar. Almost all check out lanes are self-service, and way too many of the younger employees seem to want no contact with the store's customers. The Weis Pharmacy is still great, however.

After years as a loyal customer, I'm sad to say I won't be going back to this Weis. The prices are less competitive than they used to be and they converted the check out lanes to self checkout. All but one, which didn't have a cashier because her shift hadn't started yet. Occasionally self check out is nice if I'm only getting a few items, but when I have a loaded cart and two toddlers in tow, I do NOT want to do the checkout myself. I'm not alone in my feelings because I have friends who have also complained. A shame, because it is a nice grocery store otherwise.

Like all Weis stores, they've eliminated express lines. (And NO, customers do NOT prefer self check-outs, I don't care what your focus groups supposedly said.) They had only one full service line open, and did nothing when it got backed up. When an employee walked past, I asked if another line could be opened. She just said there was nothing she could do about it - evidently she'd had no training to speak of. So I suggested she tell a manager, not a huge leap of reasoning. After that, they opened another line. It took so long, I was glad I hadn't gotten milk or ice cream. It was quite an unpleasant experience. Quite a shame, because it's otherwise a nice store - well-stocked & good prices. I'll say this again for extra emphasis: customers want express lanes, not self check-outs. If you're chronically short-handed, try paying more, or offering benefits. Don't just use the situation as an excuse for poor service. Response to store's reply: No thanks, I don't need to talk to a rep. I & most of your customers need you to install express lines. Any other response is just marketing dept blather.

I like this store, they have all kinds of goodies (food-wise) and the most important: good customer service. The candy on the picture reminded me of the Dulces Tipicos de La Antigua Guatemala City .
