Went to Taqueria 27 in Holladay. We were seated pretty quickly and greeted by our waiter. He took our drink order then left. He came back and we ordered appetizers, he said "Okay now I'll order those margaritas for you too." Why did you have to wait to put those in? So we ordered dinner and he left, when he brought dinner out we asked for water. He brought out food for another waitresses table about 10 minutes later and we asked the other waitress for water... he came over and said sorry he forgot and walked away. Later we asked for the check and watched him bring food to 3 other tables without ever bringing us the check. I spoke with a manager and our waiter came to our table and asked my girlfriend if I was complaining and that he'd been there since 10AM. As if that's some excuse. Manager gave a small discount and our check. I would never recommend the Holladay location.

Overpriced and low quality. The rice had no flavor and the black beans tasted like they were straight from a can. The nachos were small portioned and also lacked flavor. The tacos were alright, nothing to write home about. The tacos' tortillas were stale. Staff was condescending when I asked questions about the menu.

Our service was typical. Signs on the doors about labor shortage...so I was patient. Our server wasn't perfect, but totally fine. The food was dry. Fish tacos more like fish-smelling dry fried chicken. Soggy fries (fries?) in carne asada tacos. The touches this restaurant used to add were also missing. Cactus? Gone. Pico? Bland. Most unfortunate is that the pre-pandemic issues they've had are still present. 1/2 the guac for the quantity of chips, for example. Drinks were good...cheap via promo. For overall experience, I'm okay granting two stars. Incorporating the spend, I waver. It is, for sure, overpriced. Having visited in the past five-or-so years at other locations, I'd say they used to be promising. Unfortunately it's become just another do-what-sort-of-works-cause -theres-not-much-competition joint. Given that, I feel pretty hard-pressed to choose between 1 vs 2 stars...I'll be nice. If you're after good Mexican food find a taco cart (by the old Sears building downtown!) or visit the local gem (who's hours now kind of suck) Hector's. Will you get the experience of being served, no...but the food is at a minimum 10x better. Enjoy at the local canyon rim park if you'd like some ambiance. Taqueria 27 has lost any allure it once had. I won't say don't visit...it won't ruin you and a dinner date is still a good thing. At the same time I'd say "run." If you in any way want to enjoy the food you're served, and if you have any expectations at all from the business, you'll be disappointed and suffer a substantive decrease in your pocketbook for the experience.

Tonight we were seated promptly in a half-bench style table. Was cozy and away from the front door where it could get pretty cold. We ordered Cadillac margaritas, which were tasty, yet scant for the price. ($12) The traditional quacamole tasted fresh, yet was a bit bland for my liking, and the chips were a bit on the stale side. Our order consisted of the fish tacos and the turkey chorizo tacos. I really enjoyed the turkey chorizo ones the most of the two. Accompanied by some very spicy pinto beans and fairly predictable spanish rice. Everything was good enough... and the server did a good job. But... $70... pretty high considering what we got. I'd look elsewhere and am highly unlikely to return.

It says on here you do take reservations but when I call, the greeting says you don't. Which is it?

I would guess they don't. The phone greeting is more reliable than this, and these questions are answered through Google, not by the restaurant itself.
