Fort Pickering and Fort Pickering Lighthouse Big or small, I am a lighthouse fan and love to explore old military installations. Thus when we were in the general area for an event, with time to spare, I sought out this location. Being off season, the fall, we knew that it would not be crowded and since the weather was nice we hustled over for a visit and paid the $10/day parking fee. The fort was small and with little remaining in the form of structures but we knew that in advance as well as is historical significance as being the only harbor not captured during the War for Independence. There was enough to do to occupy a couple of hours, walking the longer Waikiki Beach, the smaller Pebble Beach, sitting by the Lighthouse, exploring the pier, seeing the harbor master's boat, visiting the souvenir shop in the old Coast Guard hanger and talking to the shopkeeper. . Neither the park nor the lighthouse can compare in size or beauty to many others along the Eastern Seaboard but the visit was worthwhile and the views were awesome. If we had planned ahead it would have been a fantastic place to have a picnic lunch on one of the beaches or in the gazebo.

Great place if you want to pack your sandwich (or not 😁 ) and spend some time out. Couple of beaches and a lot of benches with great view and there is a little gazebo you can sit. Tent and RV campers obviously like the place I have seen many of them. Paid parking available.

Beautiful lighthouse and small beach. Rock hunting was fun! Nice little place to sit and eat lunch, look out at the water.

You go on RESERVEAMERICA for a reservation. It's a good system. Pick site & dates. A Salem owned park, tents, RV's,trailers. Social distancing masks. Clean, near the bay, some on the bay. Boat ramp activity busy fishing, but nice here. Openings on into October.
I went in an RV I don't know I didn't ask I'm sure they do sorry I can't answer your question
I'm not sure, you can find out at Salem Town Hall or Aalem Parks & Recreation a resident pass is 25$ for all of Salem Parks and beaches
Yes 10 dollars for parking or 15 for overnight
I believe so. Just not on the beach. But people still do it anyway. Just pick up after them and you should be fine.
I didn't take notice but the fort area is open
Yes
There are two beaches, one with a lot of rocks. Then there is a beach that had plenty of sand it is a family beach . It is a nice beach
Yearly for Salem residents is $10. Yearly for out of towners is $100. Weekly day rates are $10. Weekend day rates are $15. I do not know the rates for campers or rvs. Off season there are no charges, but cold and restrooms are closed.
