Haveing only experience large ski resorts like Breckenridge and Purgatory this little place was a welcome surprise. The people working were friendly and the slopes were lots of fun. There were harder blacks for more experienced skiers and greens for beginners. There were also a few blues for intermediate skiers so for the fairly cheap rental prices and ample room to skiing made it a really fun day.

Awesome ski area!! This location is historic. It’s been there since I was a child, 25 years a go snowboarding this spot. They have recently began to renovate several of the amenities such as the lodge and restrooms so they are just kaibos and a yurt right now but it’s very functional and for $40 you can ski or snowboard until your too weak to carve. They have around 28 different runs that vary from beginner to black diamonds and they are all fun. Can’t wait to make it back again next season to hit the slopes again!!

Although I believe that the ski resort is really beautiful and the slopes are amazing I want to throw this out as a CAUTIONARY TALE. I’m a brand new snowboarder and have gone up to Antelope Butte twice. The first time was really awesome and I recommend any beginner to come here to learn. However, the second time I had come up to snowboard my friend and I needed a break. I put my snowboard on the rack that they provide. It was a rental and it was sitting right next to my friend’s snowboard. However, when I returned my board was gone. I understand that I am responsible for the board and that I should have been more careful with the rental. I figured it was probably just switched around with someone else’s rental. The only other rental on the rack was much smaller and was clearly meant for a little kid. I knew the boards were pinned and if someone had turned in my board they would have it on file. I went into the office and informed them that I thought someone switched my board because it was missing and asked if someone had turned in a board that wasn’t theirs. Without looking the man said “no” and simply informed me that if I didn’t find the board that I was liable to pay for it. I went outside and sat back down on the empty racks trying to come up with a plan. About 20 minutes in, I watched a mother walked up to the previously mentioned child’s rental and inform her kid that they took the wrong board. She swapped the boards and left. After looking at the board it still wasn’t my board as my bindings were blue and these bindings were yellow. I walked back into the office and told him that I found a board that had been swapped but didn’t want to take it in case it belonged to someone else because it wasn’t my board. I asked him to see the PIN and the only PIN he gave me was my missing board’s. He made me feel like I was inconveniencing him for asking, but I was going to do whatever it took to find the board and not pay for it. I sat on those racks for 2 hours waiting to see if anyone came down the slopes with a rented board and blue bindings. All the rentals were supposed to be in by 4pm which is when the lodge closed and all the rentals were supposed to be back in. At 4pm I grabbed the last rental on the rack that wasn’t mine and took it into the office ready to demand that they check the PINS on the boards that had already been returned. However when I walked in they took the board from me and signed that I had turned in all of my supplies WITHOUT looking at the PIN number. I didn’t end up paying for the board, but I spent 2 hours stressing over a lost board and sitting in the snow to check other people’s rentals in order to find it when I could have spent it on the slopes. I didn’t take the other board because it wasn’t mine to take and only got out of it after turning in the board that wasn’t mine. I’m not saying that I wasn’t partially responsible for losing the board and I will be much more cautious in the future about leaving my rental unattended but I also feel like if the employees were checking the PINS of the boards as they were being returned or even checked the PINS of the already turned in boards that I could have found my missing board much sooner and might actually have gotten a few more runs in instead of sitting on a rack next to a rental I knew wasn’t mine hoping someone would come down with a board. I just feel as though running a system where your only form of checking system is making sure that you walk in with an orange board whether it was the one you where rented out or not is a really scary way to run the system. I don’t want to offend anyone I just wanted to make sure that if you choose to go here please make sure you keep an eye on your rental or you could spend the day pass you purchased sitting around looking for your missing board that may or may not have already been turned in.

I love skiing at the Butte. There are never any lines and we always have tons of space to ski!
