I love this place! I've been visiting every now and again since I was a child with my grandparents and now my children get to enjoy going with us as well as their grandparents 🥰 I'm so glad the hatchery is still open! The staff and volunteers today were very friendly! We really enjoyed visiting with Jack in the railcar. He was very sweet and knowledgeable. The scavenger hunt was fun but feeding the fish is always the big win 😉

This is a really great way to spend part of your day. It's great for kids and even your pets are allowed as long as they are leashed and you clean up after them. They even have watering bowls for your dogs to make sure they don't over heat. It's got some really interesting exhibits and fun facts about fish and you can feed the fish and ducks.

We were visiting during our vacation and this hatchery was one of those gems we found along the way that we enjoyed more than we thought and stayed longer than we planned. We love fishing and places like this make it a better experience. We were especially intrigued by the trail car, don't miss that.

An amazing piece of U.S. history. There is no fee to enter. The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. Highly recommend spending an hour or so to visit the historic buildings, learn about how trout were introduced into South Dakota and other states in the late 1800s. Kids will get a kick out of feeding the fish.
