Such a nice campground for a reasonable price. Only 25$/night for a tent site; water spigots everywhere. The website is a little confusing. When you book a site, the tent site numbers mean nothing to the camper. When you arrive, after check in, just drive to any of the tannish areas on the map and stake your claim. Anywhere...... shade, tables, some fire rings, near a light, choose your neighbor......grab it. The tent site numbers at booking are for managerial purposes only. The showers are awesome. And, I actual like the timer button. I would return if I should be in the area again. I hunkered down at "x makes the spot". It was pretty busy when I arrived on a Sunday afternoon.

A very nice, green, shady campground in the city of Spearfish. It's right across the road from the D. C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery, which is a terrific free family attraction that is not to be missed. There is a long paved walking/biking trail that winds through the city and is accessible from the campground. Another great feature here is Spearfish Creek, so get a license and come try to catch a trout. It's just a short walk to Spearfish's biggest city park where every Wednesday night from mid-June to the first week of August, they have a free concert in the Park with food trucks, etc. The biggest downside to this place is how close together the RV sites are and this is in part due to the site layout.

Tent camping, with a dog. The staff on check-in were lovely and very helpful. Despite there being a bunch of kids around EVERYONE respected quiet time. It's grab and go as far as the primitive camping goes, you get there and pick a spot. We had a fire ring and picnic table which seems to be the norm. The bathrooms and showers are super clean. It's close to town amenities, (walking distance close). I would highly recommend this for a city campground.

We just happened upon this campground & it's beyond beautiful. This gem sits smack in the middle of the town! Now we weren't too sure about that fact until we stopped by the campers registration getting permission to drive through checking it out. The campground itself is setup perfectly, grounds are kept immaculate. No *city* noise at night at all. Nor really any noise during the daytime, except children playing & we could still hear the creek's water moving. All the children we saw were extremely respectful throughout the whole park /our entire stay. Kudos to their parents for raising families aware of campground etiquette. There's a moving creek that runs through the entire campground making a circle. We were able to back right up to it & listen all night. Their showers & restrooms are well stocked, super clean & maintained. We both utilized them & found that we had excellent HOT water with great pressure. Working HOT water is an absolute joy after 10+ hours traveling, even if it's to wash one's hands. Some camprounds seem to have forgotten about hot water for restrooms. There's a HUGE city park steps outside of the campground which has a paved walking path all the way around it. (like an extra wide sidewalk) Also steps outside the campground entrance is a fish hatchery which was free to walk around & most people would considered a beautiful park as well. It was nice & relaxing to walk all the grounds taking in the rich history. The town & it's people have put so much thought & love into this whole layout each place flows unto one another with grace. We only intended to stay overnight but extended our stay 2 more days. Each time we spoke with campground staff they were smiling, cheerful, & helpful. They told us that they would be doing some grounds work behind our campsite but would wait to do directly behind our site until we checked out. We told them they wouldn't bother us none to do whatever they needed wherever they needed to do it; they trimmed behind on both sides of our site about 200 feet away while going both directions while we were still there. They were on the opposite side of the creek the whole time. We ran into town & when we returned they had trimmed behind us. This was VERY RESPECTFUL & PROFESSIONAL as they really would not have bothered us at all!! We were so impressed with our whole experience we've made plans to travel back & spend some more vacation time here. When we left I had told my husband "I'm ready to retire to Spearfish Now," multiple times over!

Some people would use the picnic tables close to the office so they could get wifi. We used our Verizon unlimited plan and had good data speeds while there.
$47/day, any RV for hook up to water and electricity
Noon is check-in time, unless the space has been vacated & staff has cleaned it up. They have let us check-in early, but only if it's picked-up after the previous campers.
