Scenic Overlook Tower (Loveland Overlook)

This is a cool little rest area to stop at, but I must have been a little late because the bathrooms were closed when I got there on the afternoon I visited. The scenic lookout tower offers great views that give you the perspective that Iowa isn't all flat cornfields, like I had mistakenly thought.

I've driven by here a lot, but never stopped. The lookout tower is gives a great view out over the history flood plain.

There is no food or gas. Just a rest area with this tower to climb and take shots of the meadows all around. Nice place to take a small walk and fresh air , a nice break in between the long drive. Plus : restrooms were surprisingly clean.
