Perfect view of the bay once you drive up and on the way to this staging area parking. We took Stream trail from the skyline gate staging area and it is a moderate level trail with beautiful redwoods and eucalyptus trees throughout. There are some steep inclines but not that bad if you are in a good shape. Only thing I didn’t like about this trail is that this park has few trails with dogs off the leash areas but on the trails where the notice says dogs on leash, people still had their dogs off the leash.

Beautiful place. Sadly, if you're not super mobile or have mobility issues, I cannot recommend the Steam Trail, which is supposedly one of the easiest routes. My knee is pretty much done in after walking about halfway. Love the scenery though. That gets a 10 out of 10 for me.

A beautiful and serene hiking spot that is easy and with lots of shades. Has bathrooms at parking lot and in the woods.

There’s not many places you can bring your dog on trails in redwoods, so this hike is high on my list of favorites in the East Bay! Plan your path in advance, there’s so many trails and you can end up figure 8’ing around a bit sometimes 🙋🏽‍♀️ and end up doing a few more miles than you intended 🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏽‍♀️. Heading down from this parking lot to Stream trail is fairly gradual, wide, and not necessarily groomed but good enough for a couple of people I saw to take their strollers down. It’s about 3/4mi down until you get to the redwoods, then it’s a casual stroll on a wide trail through the redwoods. For the amount of cars parked in the parking lot, I was shocked at how few people I saw, especially once I started heading up the hills on the smaller trails. There were picnic tables down by the currently empty stream, and I bet early spring is such a great time to come back and see the stream and valley so full of life. The offshoot trails from Stream can be steep at times, but a great workout. Overall, family friendly hike for all ages, and of course, dog friendly. Happy hiking!

Both East ridge and West ridge trails are wide, graveled and pretty level for the first 0.5 mile, I imagine they are passable in a wheelchair, when starting from Skyline. Steam trail is pretty steep from Skyline and I don't recommend Wheelchairs on French, Starflower, Philip's Loop, Tres Sendas or Eucalyptus, etc trails
