Self guided tour. Very interesting. The car museum was a big hit. My husband loved it!

The auto museum was fascinating - and I am not a car person. Lol. The prison was sobering, drove home what it was like to live and die under frontier justice.

We used to ask Grandma if she went to college. She said she graduated from MSP, a private girls school out west. Little did we know her alma mater was the Montana State Penitentiary in Deer Lodge. What an amazing place. The car museum goes on and on with a collection of cars that has to be valued in the millions. The old prison grounds are interesting and the buildings are spooky yet give a real sense of what it must have been like inside. The self guided tour had plenty of info and stops with unbelievable and very interesting facts. Bring the family and check it out. As for grandma, she wouldn’t get out of the van while the family saw the sites. She said she wasn’t going back behind those walls. Unreal. Anyway, check it out. Btw, I bet many came to know Jesus in the little chapel there. Pretty cool and Jesus does save. From behind bars to eternity, I can’t imagine!

We stopped here on our road trip and it has been one of my kids favorite places. The cars were really cool and there were a lot of them. After we toured the cars we went to the prison and my teenagers absolutely loved it. You get to wonder around throughout the whole thing without being bothered. It made it so we didn't have any pressure and could play stupid games. The staff was great and the town is fun too, if you are thinking about stopping it is worth it.

Yes it is. There is also the prison museum and a WWII museum.
Outside, in the yard.
15 dollars per person for all three or 4 museums to include the the car museum the prison and the two across the street. The $15 is a year long pass. I believe 10 and under are free.
I dont know probably city hall
They have evening tours sometimes and Halloween tours...I think whatever you want to believe adds to the ambiance of your experience! I thought it was a really interesting place.
????? Check with the Gift Shop.
Those prices sound very accurate! Not only does it get un but it also gets you in for an extended amount of time. This is not just a one-time pass. There is an awful lot to see and if you want to take your time and really learn the history it may take more than one trip! I do believe you can go with your one purchase all month! The museum is worst every cent that you spend on your ticket! Don't forget to hit the ice cream place right next door! Wilcoxson's ice cream is made in Montana and is phenomenal! I am a personal fan of stuck in a rut! Have a great time, respect the grounds take the time to read the signs! So much history is inside of that museum!
