Had a lot of fun, the staff was super friendly. Sad to see some of the older experiences go like the earthquake simulator or robot that can write your name. It was amazing seeing all the cool things technology can be used for!

As someone currently attending college level math and science courses I was genuinely interested in checking out this place. But I found that some of displays were very visually appealing to interact with, it was hard to try and comprehend the lessons they were trying to teach. The displays seemed geared towards younger children that might be exposed to something and possibly want to become interested in STEM. Otherwise they just wind up playing with the displays while parents follow them around.

Came down as a chaperone for a school field trip. I do love science museums and this one was no disappointment. There was quite a variety exhibits to interact with I just wish we had more time. We took part in the physics roller coaster class that the kids really enjoyed. The living colors lab was also very insightful. If you for get to bring your lunch the cafe has plenty of options.

Really fun and highly interactive place with 3 floors, the first floor is the place to check-in either with your membership card, online or on-site purchase, IMAX, and the souvenir shop; the second floor with the exhibit of human body and organs, and other tech activities; the underground is a place that you may have experienced hand-made creativity and other games. Definitely is a ideal place for kids to releasing energy and to kill the time for at least 3 hours! After stamping on the card of the nearby parking lot next to the Marriott by the staff of the Tech Interactive, you will enjoy the most great deal with $5 a day for the parking! Strongly recommend this place.

There are some activities that can and are very informative to anyone seeking knowledge!!
Not really
23.00 an adult ticket. First weekend of the month it is free if you have a Bank of America ATM.
I was just there. I was allowed in with my lunch bag. Had to exit museum to eat it but you have in and out privilege with your ticket
Hello! There are a couple parking garages nearby for which we offer validation for a discounted price: San Jose McEnery Convention Center (150 W. San Carlos St.) and 2nd and San Carlos Garage (288 S. 2nd St.). Bring your parking ticket to The Tech for validation. Parking at these garages is not free and is only discounted with validation. Additional non-validated parking is also available downtown. You can find a map here: https://www.thetech.org/parking
Our company had a private party there years ago. It is a really nice experience.
$24 for adult, child 3-17 Years Old $19, Student with ID $19, Seniors 65+ $19.
It's open 10-5 Saturday and 11-5 on Sundays. Starting October they will also be open Thursday and Friday 10-3.
for 13 years it may be interesting, but for other children it is very likely to be boring. For the 18-year-old man, I leave it to his judgment.
I don't remember many hands-on experiences there that weren't tied to visual elements. A good alternative to The Tech might be The California Academy of Sciences up in SF; if you call ahead, the naturalist center and docents have a lot of specimens you can touch and feel, and the planetarium shows have phenomenal sound, especially if you sit in the very center of the dome. Right now it's a show about coral reefs, and the audio makes you really feel like you're underwater!
No, just buying an IMAX ticket does not get you into the museum. You exit the movie into a common area, but still need a museum ticket.
Hello! The best way to go about it would be to buy the first one online, then while on site, you can buy add-on IMAX tickets for the other 2 shows, bringing down the cost to $4 or $5 each for the other 2 shows. In total you would need to purchase 3 tickets, one for each film.
I'd say around 30 minutes to kinda wander and see everything. You can spend more time if you have kids and want to try all the simulators and watch all the short videos. There's also the imax video that's like 45 minutes long.
There is and if you want IMAX tickets, you can purchase them as a bundle
$20 - $25 general admission
They don't have free days but they have a community day on June 30th this year where it's only $5 to get in.
"Dream Big" was my favorite but "Oceans" is really good too. Except when they contract for a Hollywood movie they all run 45min.
About the same as at the movie theater.
You can buy tickets on site from a kiosk or a person. You can buy online as well but there is a small fee if you do. They have lots of discounts if you know what to do. Teachers should bring a school ID or even a pay stub as proof of employment. Military personnel should have their ID on them (they get in free). Bank of America account holders get in free one weekend a month. (Get an account for each of your kids and they get in free too.) You can check which weekends by going to their online calendar. They just upgraded their Movie Theater to be the first IMAX Lazer Dome, so it's a good time to visit. However, that's a separate charge as they need to pay movie royalties.
$25 for an adult general admission
My two grand son loved it. It on my list to do it again. By the way they are 7 and 9.
You need to call for showing inquiries.
I think the Tech has one in the back, not open to the public yet.
Yes...they have an awesome cafe on the lower level. There's a nice menu selection and food is reasonably priced! My grandchild and I had a great time!
You do have to check the slip u usually tells u I had to pay $15 to go with my school yesterday
Yup! 😝
I'm sorry, i don't know, perhaps you could Google The Tech's building layout
Also, if you bring your own food you can eat it in the park across the street.
Tickets are available at the venue. It isnt usually crowded so you can get it from there.
Compare to other museum, this is a good price and well worth it. A lot of hands on stuff for kids to play and experience. Note that the movie price is not included but if you buy together then the movie price is cheaper.
First come
It's a "permanent" exhibit. It will be housed at the Tech for ten years. That's how long the contract is for. You've got some time to check it out!
Yes, $3 off to active duty and veteran US military and families
Not sure if they have a VR tour.
if you are a Bank of America customer, you can get free entry every 1st weekend of a month. https://about.bankofamerica.com/en-us/what-guides-us/arts-and-culture/partners.html#fbid=DAEoYYgE8oM
