Awesome selection of new and used books! Super cool case of rare and first edition books as well. Dog friendly store!

Small bookstore in the Mission that has a wide array of titles and some really neat finds hidden throughout the shelves. I believe their used book prices are a little pricey however, just based on other used bookstores in the city. Some of their used books are in less than stellar condition and they're selling them for 9 bucks! Might as well take your chances on eBay at that point. Still, I love to browse the shelves whenever I'm in the Mission and the staff is always happy to answer any questions you might have.

Great selection of books, and their free paper back (and bookmarks) are genuinely attractive in their own right. The used books are OK priced, but not super cheap, however they are all high quality.

Was visiting from out of state and stumbled upon this gem of a book store! Dog Eared Books carries both used and new books! Helpful staff, well organized and well stocked store. Highly recommend if you happen to be in the area👍

Not at the moment, but I bet we could order you something! Give us a call and we can chat about it.
Hi - We require all customers and employees to wear masks in the store. We ask that customers sanitize their hands upon entry and practice social distancing inside the store. We limit capacity to whatever the city of San Francisco dictates, which right now is 50%. If you would like to shop when there are less people in the store, the best times are usually midday and between 6 and 8 pm on weekdays.
The Valencia store has a smaller square footage than the Castro store, but just as many books (we aren't cramped for space. We have higher shelves). Our sister store, Alley Cat Books, on 24th Street, is the largest of the three.
