One of the most worthwhile hikes you can do in San Diego County. Make sure to get your permit before you go. The rangers DO show up, and they DO take the permits seriously. Which = big problems for people who skipped the permits.

A great hike with lots of gorgeous views! Bring lots of water!! (There isn't much shade.) Lookout for snakes and other wildlife. The waterfall is so serene!

Beautiful place to come hiking. Definitely recommend coming early and avoiding the midday heat. It feels like an oven especially on the way back up.

Questions & Answers

Do they really not accept permits on a phone? Do you really have to print it? Doesn't seem very eco friendly if you ask me.

Don't know. I heard they do but I was never challenged.

Does anyone know how deep the actual water is inside the pool? The only information I can find is that the height of the waterfall is 80ft but is the water in the pool shallow enough for non swimmers to get in?
