They're always fast (no appointment necessary!), always incredibly friendly, and reasonably priced. The best smog place in east county... maybe the whole county? Maybe THE WORLD? Not sure, but it seems likely.

I commend with gratitude, The Manager (Holly) and all the workers in this auto registration service👏👏 Everyone of them had been very courteous, helpful and kind to us, having just moved back to SD from WA. They completed our transfer registration with so much ease and stress free. They even delivered our license plates to our home, after I told them no one is available to drive for us to go to Santee to pick it up!! Yes this place do offer lost plate stickers with a nominal fee.
No. There is no need to get a smog inspection in another state, as it will not be valid in California. In order to complete your registration, simply fill out and sign DMV's form stating the reason why the vehicle cannot be tested. DMV will mail the registration and license plate sticker to wherever the car is currently located.
California states that it is the responsibility of the Seller to provide a valid Smog certificate at the time of delivery of the vehicle to the buyer.

Most vehicles in California are required to pass a Smog Check every two years for registration renewal. Your DMV Registration Renewal Notice will indicate if your vehicle needs a Smog Check. You may take your vehicle to any Smog Check station, unless it requires a Smog Check at a STAR station.
Smogs N Tags offer both Star and Regular Smog at the same location with same price.

Star certified smog station vs regular smog station. STAR stations are Smog Check stations that meet higher performance standards established by the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Some STAR stations are licensed to perform only tests, while others are licensed to perform both tests and repairs. However testing and pricing is same.
No Smog. It is Exempt. Smog vehicles 1976 and newer.

If a smog certification is required and you have not had a smog inspection, you may still pay your registration feesto avoid any late fees. However, you will not receive your new registration or year sticker until the smog information has been received by DMV.
