Extremely rude and unhelpful staff. Went for two large trees with just my mother and infant daughter. After an hour of walking around to find something sufficient, we knew it was going to be a problem to cut down two giant trees and bring them all the way down the steep hill with a baby. Called the phone number and a very nice man told us to walk down and ask for someone to help us. Proceeded to walk all the way down to ask for assistance and three younger men just stared and said they couldn’t help us for at least an hour. They were too busy and we had to do it ourselves. They then proceeded to stand there and twiddle their thumbs instead of work. We left without the $200 of trees. Will NEVER go back there.

Great first experience selecting and cutting down a live Christmas tree. The staff was welcoming and "friendly" as suggested by signage at the entrance of farm. All trees regardless of type or size cost $75 USD plus tax. We paid a total of $79.50 for a 7ft+ White Pine tree. My family and I had a pleasant experience walking the property to select a tree, taking photos and visiting farm animals as we paid our invoice. As long as Shale Hills Farm remains "NJ friendliest Christmas tree farm," we will plan to return. Full of gratitude to have such a great experience especially during these uncertain times.

What a great place! They have about 5-6 different types of trees including the Charlie Brown treeπŸ˜‚. They have farm animals for the kids. A small movie theatre in the barn playing Christmas movies. Santa comes! Hot chocolate and a small food menu. The place is huge and has lots of different sized trees as well. Staff is super friendly and always wishes you a Merry Christmas. We will never go anywhere else.

Great experience, social distancing is respected. Amazing selection of trees. Saws were available by the entrance. Getting our tree tied up was fast and easy. Will make this a yearly routine.

Do you bore the holes in the bottom of the trees?

We tried the "stand straight" system years ago. That's the system that needs a hole drilled in the trunk. Unfortunately, it didn't work very well for us so we discontinued using it. Often times, it cracked the trunk on smaller trees. And if it wasn't absolutely perfectly drilled, it was impossible to fix and it ruined an otherwise perfect tree. Mike, Shale Hills Farm owner
