Enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in Riverside, CA to attend the Cheech Marin Center for the Chicano Arts & Culture in beautiful historic downtown Riverside. The exhibition showcases hundreds of works by Chicano artist which were collected over many years by Cheech. The exhibit is scheduled every two hours and there is plenty to see and do within walking distance of the area. We planned our day within walking distance of the Museum and enjoyed a light breakfast at Tio Tacos, antique shopping, a visit, cocktails and light lunch at the Mission Inn. It was a delightful day.

The Cheech is a great experience. PROS: The museum includes an interesting and powerful collection of art. Very unique pieces, a lot of telling/true stories tied to the art. And, a great repurposed venue with history in itself. Plus - we did find parking onsite for free, which is a win as well CONS: No cons. Only positives. Greatly enjoyed my visit. Thank you 👍👍

The museum is great. I was amazed at how fun the collection was, many pieces of contemporary artists along with more traditional and classic ones throughout. Two floors of exhibits, they have docent lead tours, and the space is pretty open. Will be interesting to see how often they rotate the exhibits. It will be an awesome place to duck into, to beat the heat, during the hot summer months in Riverside I used to visit this building for many years when it was the main library, it was fun to see how they have reconfigured the space, the biggest change being that they removed part of the 2nd story floor and opened up the space. The bones and some details still remain from it's days as the main library.

Wow! I was blown away by the Cheech Museum today! The curator and staff have created some amazing exhibitions. I have high hopes for what’s to come with this museum! My husband, 15m-old daughter, and I visited the museum today and we had an excellent time. She was engaged the entire time. The second floor was my favorite, with such interesting multi-media pieces and installation art by Einar and Jamex de la Torre. This will be up until Jan 22nd, 2023. There was a really amazing two-story, holographic piece right in the center of the museum which we all liked. I also, really appreciated the Community Gallery space at the front of the museum. I love this idea and think more museums need to follow the Cheech’s lead and incorporate this idea. I really loved seeing some work from local Riverside artists, and especially seeing work from acquaintances up in the museums! Can’t wait to come back for my next visit!👍🏼
