It's rather empty of staff and since most decided to work from home after pandemic ended. The front door receptionists still make you sign in on two different papers verifying you aren't having Covid-19, a variant which is ancient history, and they won't let you in unless you have a mask and you called to make an appointment...The main room, but also lobby, has a lot of computers with hardly any clients using them. The few staff in there, about six when I went, seem bored but they will help you use the computers or answer questions. The most helpful area is VetWorks, job search for military veterans. They have an office in the back and are very relaxed and friendly. They help not only job search, but with training and job related costs such as paying for work clothing and public transportation costs. The building has clean bathrooms with lots of stalls. There's a snack room with empty vending machines, so basically just tables and a sink. But if someone is waiting for you they can wait there. There's a 99cent store across the parking lot so you can buy drink or snacks there, also KFC, and two other fast foods. There is a bus line in front, #4, that goes to downtown San Diego to a trolley and bus center.

Very friendly office. I met with Patricia/Patty with EDD, and she was personable, friendly, efficient, and very helpful. She proactively explained what she was doing, and provided well-suited resources and suggestions. My experience and my impression of the conversations going on around me are their driving focus is to be genuinely helpful, providing the best resources for each person/situation. Worth the time investment.

I was directed here after the nearby library printer/copier became out of order. Arrived 20 minutes before closing. The ladies in front reception were great signed me up quickly and we're very friendly. However as soon as I walked back before I could sit a hispanic lady told me(from across the room) they were closing in 5 minutes. He tone made it clear that I was to leave. Disappointed. I'll try again tomorrow see how it fairs, privelegde as some of the workers are they shouldn't be there to hurry people out the door. I literally had to print one paper out from my email.

Through the years working for the Career Center I have witnessed many people obtain employment and or be able to attend school. No program is perfect and no Case Manager is perfect. Job Seekers forget to look in the mirror first and really evaluate if you are doing EVERYTHING possible to land employment? How many resumes are you submitting per week? Is your resume even ready to be sent to the employer? I lost count how many job seekers thought their resume was on point when in fact it was far from it. If I am looking for employment the Career Center would be one of the first places I would go.
