I rate them 2stars because the nurses and doctors were good. But if you have to deal with the front desk (at the hospital entrance) you may have a bad experience like I did. They seemed not to like their jobs and were very short with me, especially considering I was unfamiliar with the protocol. My wife was hospitalized for 3 days after major surgery and each day I entered I had to redo entrance credentials... Picture ID and COVID vaccination card. On the second day my wife's sister came to visit and was leaving as I arrived. My son was planning to visit later that day. The front desk told me that he could not visit, if I went in (hospital policy only allows 2 visitors per day regardless of timing). My son was coming from a long distance and taking time off of work, so I told the front desk people that I would not go in so that he could go in later that day. When he arrived, the front desk told him he could not go in because my wife had already had 2 visitors today (I hadn't gone in and specifically asked to be taken off of the list so that he could go in). When he arrived it took pleading and explaining before they finally let him in. In addition to all of this, when I arrived earlier, I wanted to make sure my wife and son knew what was going on, so I asked if I could sit down and call from the front waiting area. One of the receptionist said yes. After a few minutes while I was the middle of calling, another receptionist said that I would have to leave the building to make the calls. No explanation, no caring, just go outside. I'm 77 years old and it was very hot outside this day. I don't know if these people are just blindly following policies or if they don't like their jobs, but this will have to change if Hoag is to become a top rated hospital.

i feel sorry for the 2 star review since the doctors and the nurses are wonderful! BTW this is the ER review. However, the lady I believe who is a desk specialist in the check- in section is very rude and careless. She did the minimum workload compared to other nurses since she is always on her phone. I told her I cannot speak and I typed the words in my phone memo, she won’t take a look and seems very impatient. When I came back for my test result, I tried my best to speak out( since I lost my voice so it’s really hard) . She said: I don’t know what you are doing here, waiting for what test result, I don’t understand you. With a very scary and impatient attitude… i feel very hopeless and she did not seem to care to even check my info in the system. I get it she might be very tired, but I don’t think as a patient I deserve this. Every job comes with responsibility and obligation. She should learn from other staffs. The rest are all amazing. Hope other patients who are in pain do not bump into her.

I had a horrible experience today in an emergency room. No blankets, no pillow even though I asked them numerous times. Very rude doctor. He raised his voice lecturing me while standing in the hallway when I answered him that I am not vaccinated. They did not let me use the bathroom.!!! I couldn't believe it!. They left me alone in the room and after an hour they discharged me without any treatment and the doctor did not do anything about my pain. If you need to go to the hospital I suggest you go to Hoag Newport Beach location.

as others have said, this place is very shady when it comes to the billing. when you arrive in the ER there is no indication what they're going to do with you. I came in for sleep issues and they proceeded to give me an EKG and then randomly blood test for no reason. they call themselves a non-profit hospital but it seems like all they want to do is wring cash out of you. thankfully I don't think they charged me for my pseudo visit. this is all on top of the fact that their doctor thinks that ambien is a benzo (it is not) so I even doubt the qualifications of the doctors

The first floor has a small gift shop that does sell flowers.
At Hoag Orthopedics Institute there is no visitors hours. There is a quiet time from 2-4pm. I am not sure about Hoag Irvine Hospital.
Why are you asking a map for medical paperwork?
I called and they gave me this information, hoag hospital is a PRESBYTERIAN community hospital and is controlled by saint Joseph health. I hope this helps.
Why are asking such a question to a map? Have you tried to call the hospital number on your paper work?
