A quick web search got me to the Yelp site for Bay Area electronic waste disposal, and this was the first or second place I clicked on. I called, confirmed the details, and a few hours later swung by. They took a broken old device off my hands for free in a quick drive by.

I tried forever to give my SD television away but unfortunately I could not find anyone who was interested in taking it. Lucky for me this dropoff center exists and I was able to give my TV to it. Shame it had to end that way, but I am glad to know there are experts who can at least help me get rid of it in some responsible manner. Plus, they have a wicked statue out front made of circuit boards, worth the visit alone. Thanks!

Just in case you were wondering, they charge. I wish it was the manufacturers who had to pay rather than the consumer, maybe then they would think about the impact of the materials they use on the Earth. I took a box that included an electric kettle, clock, electric toothbrush, keyboard and they charged me $8. Bottom line, I think you should go because we can't keep burying stuff in the ground and expecting not have a negative consequence. I'm grateful for places like this!

Awesome! Love that there is a place I can take old electronics to, and know they will be recycled responsibly. Workers are always friendly!

Most operative system provide an option for exactly this. If you have a fairly recent Windows OS, look for restore options. If the computer is too old, just run an intense formatting on the hard drive. I believe they can destroy your data for you in this facility anyway

This is for electronics only. They won't even take batteries. Take your mat to the main transfer station off Gilman.
