There is nothing quite like Nelson. Very quirky, fun assortment of old vehicles, buses, buildings, etc surrounded by natural beauty with rock formations. There are some dangers (cactus, snakes) etc. But, the employees do a great job informing you of said dangers, but doing so with humor (complete with photos!). It’s with the drive and time. There are also tours that simians amazing. But, they were sold out and we didn’t have the chance to attend one.

What a cool experience for our4 kids and ourselves. The owners are very polite and straight to the point. We respected them and their property / belongings and had no problem. They only charge $2 per person and they could ask for more, we refused our change to give back to them. . Cute little gift shop and cold beverages. We were informed to not touch the cactus and saw pics / stories of what happens when you do. Overall I recommend taking the drive out there and visiting this beautiful location. Drive down the road past them for a beautiful scenic route.

Nelson's Ghost Town is such a great little tourist spot! Friendly residents and a rich history. Next time I will come earlier for the tour. I really had such a great time! I went as a kid but didn't remember much from that first visit. I only had time to take some pictures before sunset but I will definitely be back for the full experience! P.s. If you pay for the photographer rate you may get access to CERTAIN restricted areas. ($10/hr)

This was a cool place. Lots of stuff to look at! There are a lot of people out roaming around here on the weekends so some of the "ghost town vibe" is taken out but lots of cool photo ops!

Yes, this is on National Park land. There are no entrance fees at this location. You may hand out for an hour or spend all day. Suggest some sort of shade covering, sunscreen, beverages and toilet paper. Alcohol and bottles are not permitted (yes people still take it to the park). We have seen it patroled by Rangers. They ticket/fine and have seen them force you to pour out your beverages. There are days when there are no enforcement's. Remember what you take in... Take out. Don't leave it for someone else to pick up after you. Enjoy this resource and keep it clean.
If you have 4 wheel drive you can launch right there by the cliffs. If not willow beach
Yes, it is free. Sedans should Park on pavement only to prevent from ruining your engine with dirt and rocks. I'm speaking from experience... You can continue on the dirt road to get to the further, more sandier Beach area only if you're vehicle is lifted like a truck or SUV. Please be careful, bring plenty of water and don't bother to bring obvious alcohol. If a ranger sees it he will make you poor it out.
Not really. But if you walk up river it gets a little better. I had no luck.
yes, 1 stinky port a potty. right on the beach area
People park very close to the water. Be there really early though. There is really no designated parking
