Washington Regional Medical Center in itself is a very nice facility, I have been to the hospital for x-rays, mammograms, and other appointments and everything went accordingly. On 8/12/21 I visited the Emergency Room, the check-in process went smoothly, the nurse that called me to the ER department was very friendly and personable. So while the nurse was checking my vital signs, a different nurse pops open the door and began asking me why I was there, mind you upon checking in I told the person at registration why I was there, the nurse checking me in had ask. So when the nurse that popped in asked why I was there clearly already knew why I was there; as I began to answer, she rudely cut me off and ask why didn't I go see my doctor today instead of coming to the ER., but before I could answer, again she rudely cut me off and let me know I would have to see my doctor. So as I am waiting for the Physician to come in a male nurse enter my room and ask "so what going on with you tonight?" Before I could answer he is EXTREMELY RUDE! He was so rude, I was shocked!!! Every-time I opened my mouth to talk wooooaaaa he had a smart snap back!!! so rude to the point I turned my head away from him and I stop answering his questions. I started to get up, get dressed and leave, but then I realize he wasn't the doctor. So I waited nervously and anxious that the doctor was going to rude as well, but to my surprise he was cordial and decent. He was nice. But those two nurses made me feel awful. I can't believe how they treated me.

Don’t go to this hospital. Just go ahead and take that drive to Greenville or anywhere but this hospital. They don’t care about patients and basically think your faking if you don’t come in on an ambulance. Doctors And nurses think everything is funny also huffing and puffing and rolling eyes. This hospital should just be shut down. Everybody in town knows not to go here.

Hospital is great for the community! The workers are respectful and kind! They knock before they enter your room. Doctors are very attentive.

Update 12/18/19 news headline today from WITN. After missing payroll last week, management at Washington Regional Medical Center in Plymouth vows to pay employees by this Friday and also says he has big plans for the future of the hospital. This hospital reopened, be forewarned however you should still drive to another hospital. They provide no care and charge enormous amounts for minimal care. The check-in used to be in an old janitor closet. THIS HOSPITAL IS CLOSED!! To anyone that may read this during a trip to the OBX or coming to the area for the local boat races as a spectator or participant or even someone whose children participate in local sports BEWARE. If you suffer a significant medical event your options for care are 30-45 minutes away, and those options are a poor excuse for a hospital. The closest hospital with acceptable care is in Greenville over an hour away. The hospital in Williamston that is the next closest to Plymouth only has one doctor on duty. If there ever was a need for a mass trauma like a 2 vehicle accident your options are limited and the delayed response and lack of doctors in the area will most likely cause your demise. I am a resident of the area, I have never seen such inept, backwards thinking people in my life. Washington County hospital has been involved in fraudulent billing practices, even if they were open you would not want to go there.
