Whitman Health and Rehab is the only skilled nursing facility that continues to operate for more than a half century in Colfax, the county seat of Whitman County. Nestle among the rolling hills of the Palouse, the area is a place where the strong and stable culture of the farmers of the county that produces more barley, lentils and wheat than any other county in US meets the avant-garde generations of Washington State University from Pullman. Whitman Rehab is a unique place to work because both these trends are represented in our facility. Among caregivers we have well-know members workers of the community. Also, because the facility offers year round Nursing Assistant Certification, we have students that are working here to accumulate direct care hours for their future medical careers or as a stepping stone for future endeavors. Whitman offers a place to everyone. Besides the multigenerational blend, our facility belongs to one of the most structured and organized Long Term Care Company - Empres Healthcare. Owned by the employees, the company has some of the best culture and benefits among nursing home companies. The corporate legacy is to recognize the employees as them as the most valuable asset. Come and work with us in a place where you are recognized and loved!

We provide all of the furniture your elderly parent needs in their room. However, to make it feel like home, most skilled nursing centers encourage residents to bring personal items such as family photos, a familiar bedspread, and treasured knickknacks.
Physicians generally see residents upon admission and once every 30 days thereafter. Though the physicians aren’t there every day, our nursing staff is in constant communication with each physician that visits the facility.
Residents may take a leave of absence with a physician’s authorization, which can be arranged through the nursing staff. Residents who take a leave of absence must check in and out with the leave of absence (LOA) book at the nursing station.
Please make sure to check with the nursing staff before bringing food in to ensure the food complies with special diets. Any food kept in resident rooms must be in a properly sealed container.
