We engaged HCA two years ago when my elderly mother who has dementia moved in with us. HCA was quick to action, placed a primary care giver with us within a week, and throughout the two years was very responsive to requests and communications. I was VERY happy with our caregiver. When the disease progressed and our needs increased, HCA was again quick to respond. Larry expressed genuine concern for us and for my mother during our time working with HCA. Everyone involved was very professional and supportive. I would highly recommend working with HCA.

My family and I were very happy with the services Home Care Assistance of Ma provided for our mother. The owners and caregivers were very caring, compassionate, and went beyond our expectations. We had full confidence my mother was in good hands, all her needs were met and she was made comfortable. In addition to the exemplary service HCA was able to match the personalities of the caregivers to my mothers which was key to a successful relationship. Without HCA we would not have been able to let my mother spend her last days at home which was her wish. If anyone asks if we know of a live-in home care, the one and only agency my family and I would recommend would be Home Care Assistance of MA.

We have been working with HCA for almost 3 years. When it became evident that my mother would need full time care, I started calling various agencies....(June 2011) HCA was the 4th agency i spoke to and the only one I made an appointment with. It was so evident over the phone that I had found the right caregiving agency. The very next day we met with Carolyn and 2 caregivers... one of which is STILL with my mother today... 2 and a half years later !! This woman is with mom 5 days a week and another caregiver takes over for the weekend! We have had the most amazing experience with this company....HCA has been a life saver for me & my siblings as we have had the most easy-going, stress & worry-free experience due to Larry and his company. This is a very difficult time in anyone's life, dealing with an aging & incompetent parent and I can not stress enough how grateful I am to have found this incredibly wonderful agency!!

We have been working with Home Care Assistance since June 2010 and they have been nothing short of exemplary! Our family was at a complete loss when it became obvious that my mother needed in-home care. I went online, found some agencies in the area and began calling. I had called about 4 different places before finding HCA and I could tell the difference immediately during this first phone call. An HCA representative met with us at my mother's house the next day and I was so relieved at how easy they made the whole process and we had home care the next day! As a matter of fact....one of the original caretakers is still with us today (2 years!!) - caring for my mother 5 days a week!! We have had some issues with the weekend caretakers - NONE of which has been the fault of HCA! And my mother has never once been without a caretaker. In addition, we had a horrible time getting my mother's insurance to start paying for her care... it took us 9 months! During that time HCA could not have been more understanding and more importantly, accommodating. I have been and will continue to refer HCA to friends - they are absolutely professional and wonderful to work with!

If you value safety, security, and reliability, yes. A quality home care agency is insured and also manages the performance and scheduling of its caregivers, handles billing and payrol, and has back-up caregivers to fill in when needed. With a private hire caregiver, you’re responsible for setting up payroll and withholding taxes, caregiver vetting and background checks, and purchasing sufficient liability insurance to cover any accidents or injuries in the home.
We follow infection mitigation best practices and safety protocols, informed by the CDC and local authorities, and provide appropriate PPE to our caregivers. The majority of our caregivers and Care Team members are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Home care is typically billed by the hour, so the cost depends on the number of care hours per week and can vary slightly by region. Most families pay out-of-pocket for their care or use long-term care insurance.
The best caregiver is an experienced professional who has the training and skills to support your loved one’s care needs. It’s also imporatnt to find a caregiver who’s extremely reliable, has back-up if necessary, and is a good fit in terms of personality and shared interests.
Home care is a supportive service provided by a professional caregiver in the home or community where a resident lives (in addition to facility supports) for peace of mind, companionship, and personal care. Caregivers can perform tasks such as running errands, preparing meals, assisting in the shower, fall prevention, and initiating brain stimulation activities to stimulate cognitive function.
