I'm not certain why this establishment doesn't have a higher rating. It's definitely underrated! I started my interaction with them by calling to get pertinent information. Stephanie, one of the owners answered, asking, how I was. Always surprised when you call a business and they do not ask. She was a wealth of information. My wife asked me to check another place and I told her, this was the place. They absolutely did not disappoint. Stephanie's husband shared some very important information/suggestion, secure our glasses! That was really great advice. Best $6 I spent for each of us. We had a great time enjoying the picturesque kayak moment. This family owned business was both warm and inviting in every moment. I hands down recommend this place for a great adventure experience in the White Mountains.

I recently went on a kayaking trip with friends. We were told the water was the low and we would have to get out at the beginning and pull our kayaks but that people were still kayaking. However, we were out of our kayaks more than we were in them. Had we known the water was going to be that low, we would have rescheduled. I understand the water level is out of their control. However, what isn’t out of their control is that our driver was texting and driving as he was bringing us up to the drop off spot and there not being enough room on the bus, making one person stand. The driver stressed heavily that we had to be back by 12:15 or we would be holding everyone up but did not pick us up until 1:25. The kayaks had broken seats and duct tape on what they said were their new paddles.

The kayaking on the river was awesome. The scenery was beautiful. The water levels were good (maybe shallow in like 2 spots). You just have to know how to paddle in the lower level spots and how to navigate a kayak. The kayaks and paddles themselves were in OK shape. The kayaks did not have any leakage. The Dodge van that brought us to and from the shop was falling apart. The ride back was jammed packed with adults sitting on adults laps, but at least it was a short ride. It was nice that we got water bottles from the driver on the drive back to the store. She was nice and friendly. It was a little difficult to do the trip in 2.5 hours. Art, the owner, was pleasant. Sometimes he seems kind of rude but we have been using his service for almost 20 years, and we just don't take anything personally. We hope next year the water levels will be the same or better so we can go again. Thanks Art.

Called ahead to ask about kayak rentals for the lake and were told it would be best to come in and get fitted for life jackets first. We did so and the guy at the front desk was incredibly rude and short with us. At about 11:30 when we finally got fitted and paid for the rentals, we asked when he would be dropping off the kayaks at the lake which he responded 12:20. We headed to the lake and swam around while we waited for the guy to come give us our kayaks. At about 1:00 he showed up in his van so I walked over to come grab the kayaks. He got out of his van, said "I lost my trailer" and then got back in and drove away without telling me when or if he was coming back. at about 1:20 we called him to ask what was going on and he was rude again. As such, we decided that we no longer wanted to wait around for this guy and deal with his incompetence and rudeness and asked for a refund. He told us that there is a sign in the shop that says no refunds and that we would not be getting one despite him being over an hour late. We were on a schedule and couldn't wait for him to show up then stick around the lake until he would finally decide to come pick up the kayaks. When he finally showed up we just told him to just keep the kayaks and he very rudely responded "Thanks for nothing." You're welcome for paying full price and getting nothing but attitude and extremely poor customer service in return. TL;DR Skip this place. The customer service is beyond terrible and you won't get your money back even if they screw up.
