Portions are huge. A single serving of the small salad is enough for two hungry adults that are going to share an appetiser and a pasta. The salad was plentiful, the dressing was adequate and the toppings generous. The mozzarella sticks were good, crisp on the outside, gooey inside, slightly over salted batter. The carbonara was again, huge. Plenty for 2 or even three people. I was not expecting onions in it, so that put me off a bit. The sauce was OK, creamy but nothing special, the peas were a tad hard but the fettuccine was cooked perfectly and the pancetta was adequate. Went at about 430pm on a Wednesday evening, were the only couple there and service was a bit slow and erratic. I wouldn't go back for the food, but would recommend if you've got a large group of hungry youngsters!

I ordered a Sicilian Pizza. It was okay. The crust was tough, with a crumb that was too dense. The sauce was very good and the amount of cheese was sufficient. I will give it another try. But there are too many places nearby with a better pie.

I never normally leave reviews but I must shed light on this incredible Italian restaurant! Il trio is Suffolk county NY’s hidden gem for Italian food! Not only do the staff and owners treat you like family but they feed you! The portion sizes are huge and in all these years I’ve never had a meal that disappoints. The rice balls are to die for! The chicken monachina is something dreams are made of! The Eggplant parm, almost seedless and perfectly cooked. The Caesar salad dressing is made from scratch and is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The cappuccinos are heaven! I know the owners from back in the day when they worked and cooked for la Capannina in holtsville and they have taken il trio to a whole new level of awesomeness. If you are looking for an amazing home cooked, fresh Italian dinner stop what you are doing and go here right now! I promise you will not be disappointed! Not to mention, the price is right !! The food and ambience was great. The wait staff was very attentive and made sure you had everything you wanted. The one downside is it's small. It's an addition to a pizza shop. Portion size was great.
