We made a short stop here on our drive to Albany. Very cool and rustic little place that is well worth a visit if you are interested in trying craft beers. We sipped on four different half-pours and were happy to sit and enjoy the atmosphere on a Friday afternoon. We are not IPA fans and were able to find a number of options that we enjoyed. The place was pretty much empty when we were there, but I can see how this is a popular local spot.

Plan Bee Farm Brewery is a gem in the town of Poughkeepsie. The staff in the tasting room is friendly and knowledgeable and the beers are mainly (to my knowledge) Wild Ales - a style of beer that dates back a long time and is alive and well today at Plan Bee! I tend to prefer sour beers, so wild ales are a new favorite of mine as many of the flavors are similar. I had the beer brewed with hot pepper and also one with ginger and carrots, and both were delicious and farm fresh. I really value that Plan Bee uses TRULY local ingredients, even offering a beer made with only ingredients sourced on their own property. Truly a good bunch of people and a great bunch of beers!

Recently had a guided tour and tasting with Emily, one of the owners, and it was absolutely a fantastic experience. She's a great story teller, and there is no shortage of stories about the land, the brewery, and the 200 year-old renovated barn that she and her husband built Plan Bee in. The beers are each singular-- made with only local ingredients (some estate-grown) and fermented with a culture of yeast from the farm itself. There are thousands of breweries in the US, and few, if any, have as much character and soul as Plan Bee.

Delicious sours and wild beer made from local and self grown ingredients. The tasting room is in a renovated 1800s farm building with original floor boards. Some beers are available in bottles and others like the breakfast beer are brewery only. The breakfast beer managed to balance the sweetness of the fruit with the maple syrup and sour base beer. Would 100% recommend a drive out to the farm.

Probably no reservations but if you are going today be prepared to sweat on line. I did last week and its hotter today.
The brewery is open to the public. I don't believe visiting the bees is.
We have local beef jerky and bags of nut mixes for snacks. If you would like to bring in your own food, please feel free. We have a list of places in the area that we recommend for take out on our FAQ page - http://www.planbeefarmbrewery.com/faq/
