This place is so cool and has so many interesting artists. They are a great community and seem to get along with each other well. What differs from this location from other makerspaces is the the private work areas that are like stalls. They are able to build up which I have never seen before. Unfortunately, that doesn't leave a ton of space for community work shop tables that aren't in weird off to the side areas. If I lived in the area I would definitely join.

Love the place, the space, the concept - just brilliant. Had an amazing tour guide named Mike and was totally impressed with what the place had going on. I only give it 3 stars as the receptionist pictured was just plain rude, unwelcoming, and as a first time guest I went from amazed to disappointed with her attitude and lack of customer service. Considering she is the face you see as you enter and leave the place, I would recommend she consider a new job or volunteer position.

Coolest place ever... they offer classes plus events (we've attended @Party for a few years). Just seeing the projects and artwork in progress is a great experience. There should be more places in every city like this.

Perfect place to rent a place or go work with heavy machinery without having to actually invest in the space or the machines. Also the people over there are super friendly and you'll always be able to answer any questions you have. So if you need to work on wood, metal, or anything else, and you like a hands-on approach, this is your place.

Questions & Answers

How is the wheelchair accessibility at Artisan's Asylum? I use a wheelchair, and am eager to at least take a tour and check it out, but am concerned that I might not even be able to get in?

The front door is ground level, without steps. One of the menbers is also in a wheelchair and works regularly in the woodshop. The bulk of the place is on one level, so it sb no problem. Guided tours are offered at 2 and 8 each day. Call the number on the site with any other questions.

There are some limited options available, but mostly through the members. One of our members has a few of the nicer commercial setups, but you would have to negotiate that use.

Do you have a forge ? what kind of hot metal tools do you have?

Leo Pero | Aug 24, 2019

No forge at this time. There are torches and an anvil but the shop is most suited to welding, fabrication and machining. Come in for a free tour and someone more knowledgeable than I could help you find what you need.
