I explore nature preserves most weekends, and this place is by far my favorite find! Much larger of an area than you expect, this remarkable nature preserve can occupy you for an entire day! Beautiful stair cases bring you down from the high ground where you enter the preserve, to the lovely creek below. A sturdy bridge allows you to cross the creek and find many trailways. The off-putting steep trail brings you up a large hill where you can find tall magnificent trees. Continue to wander the hillside, and a trail will bring you back down to the creek where you can follow creekside on a hot day to help stay cool. Wide, but small waterfalls can be found on this section of the creek, where you can walk right up to them. Very peaceful. An explorers paradise. Inexperienced hikers use caution, the steep hills and tight paths can be difficult in places.

A great place to go hiking. Some sections are steep. Wonderful geological features and waterfalls.

This is a great nature preserve. There is a lot to see and the terrain is very diverse. With that being said, it can be very steep and also very muddy so travel cautiously and consider the abilities of those in your group. There are a few spots in which the trail is a bit washed out and you are on the edge of a slope. Much of the hiking trails are either along the edge of the creek or up on the ridge. There a many chipmunks to see, toads, crayfish, and deer prints in the mud. The falls are both cools but the third falls is a pretty good distance from the parking lot so you would need to plan to bring some provisions.

I think the Boy Scouts or Eagle Scouts keep up this trail. It’s a little difficult as the terrain is steep. Very fun though. The waterfalls are no longer available to the public so don't bother going to far in. There are private property signs and a fence up and construction keeping you away.

Kill is from the old Dutch meaning river or creek. It is common in this area, for example Lishakill.
MARCUS, There should be a list of rule at the park entrance on Hetchel town rd. I do believe though, that the only fire you can have outside of us in picnic areas are not allowed except by permit so I would say that as long as your in the picnic area you could cook with open flame lik a cooking stove. The park rules dont really say about cooking flames , in the pictures on the website the is cooking stove.. I personally wouldn't do it in the woods to dry and to easy to set a spark off. Hope this helps , you can look on the website for more info. Hapy trails 🙄
