This experience on Saturday , July 29th of 2022 mirrors numerous other Great Disappointments we have gone through over the last 4 years in attempting to support Massena Privately Owned Food Establishments since we migrated to this Beautiful North Country Paradise . The region has a great problem when someone dares to chance eating out at any place other than a Franchised Facility like any McDonalds or Arby's . These Independent Operations display no overall discipline to maintaining good cleanliness , upkeeping and most of all providing food that reflects what we all set out to do , having an overall happy experience . Without the desire to at least produce better food than a simple family can serve themselves at their own , what is the purpose to going into business in the first place . China Doll itself has more than enough serious disadvantages without even a taste of their food . Their rundown / sad part of Old Massena , away from where most people would even chance trying to have a meal and their own neglected physical condition are already enough to scare away most patrons ! Add a poor product that doesn't look / taste or satisfy the most easy going patrons and you have what most of these One-Offs' don't offer , a good reason to come back again and again ! IF ALL THESE OWNERS WOULD TRULY GIVE A DAM FOR THE RESPECT THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE ENTITLED TO , COOK / CLEAN / STAFF AND SATISFY THOSE INDIVIDUALS LIKE THE GUESTS WE ALL ARE , THEY ALL THEN COULD THRIVE IRREGARDLESS OF HOW VERY MODEST THEIR SURROUNDINGS ARE ! My advice , read my review for the Asia Buffet and Mongolian Grill on Market Street in Potsdam . They always have been and continue to be the BEST FOOD OF ANY CUISINE IN THE REGION AT A BARGAIN PRICE WITH WONDERFUL STAFF AND OWNERS .

The food was expensive and product was something I wouldn’t have taken for free. Angel hair pasta in place of lo mein. The egg rolls are the most disappointing excuse I’ve ever seen. I’d give 0 stars if I could. Would not shop again.

We decided to try China Doll for dinner tonight. Big mistake. The floor was dirty, the table tops were sticky. Service was nearly non-existent. Soft drink or tea were/are the only available beverages. The "wonton soup" was water, uncooked wontons and 1 tiny slice of grey matter". I had to go to the counter and ask for a menu - no server came near us about ordering, so we settled for the buffet...which was terrible. Rock hard, half filled egg rolls, brown vegetable mixtures, indistinguishable meat substances, and other pans of mystery material. I thought one item was pork, or perhaps chicken, but then I got a piece of something that tasted like fish??? The chicken wings were edible, but everything else on the buffet was unrecognizable or inedible. Stale cookies and canned bits of fruit made up the dessert bar. Nobody even came to our table with a bill - we had to go to the counter and settle up while the "servers" chattered with each other in non-English and laughed... at us??? We came, we tried, we will never return. I can't believe this place is still open. I had to hit one star to post this, but really...no stars is accurate.

Poor service and even poorer food. I understand being short staffed and having one person try to do everything, but when the restaurant isn't busy and the one server pays little attention to you or anyone else for that matter that's a problem. The table next to us had been cleared by a large party just as we arrived and the dirty plates and silverware were still there when we left. Once we were brought our drinks the server never returned. Food is bland in both taste and variety...it might be made fresh, but when it has no flavor it doesn't matter. Drive the 20 or so minutes to Potsdam instead.
