I registered for my community service at the Torrance Office. The staff was really nice and guided me through my registration process. This was my first time doing community service and I didn't know how the program worked. The staff referred me to a nonprofit organization to do my hours. I really liked my assignment and I will continue volunteering. I received my certificate of completion and overall everything was so effortlessly and smoothly. My thanks to the Volunteer Center staff especially during this pandemic challenges!

The people here are incompetent. First, they assigned me to a beaches and harbors center where female volunteers were NOT allowed (was turned away at 4 in the morning). Went back to get reassigned and got no apology AND got gaslighted for waiting a couple months to get the community service out of the way. (Still had a month to do it all, but the criticism was besides the point and unprofessional.) Got assigned a new center, did all the community service, then went to get my completion papers and half way to the courthouse realized they had put a COMPLETELY different birthday on the completion card. (I’m 21, not 60.) The people here are incapable of completing simple tasks. Unfortunately you’ll probably have to deal with these incapable women by court order. Good luck to you.

Rude, Nancy never called me back when I told her about the issues I was having with a place they are contracted with. Then she tried to blame me asking if I contacted them again. How many times do I need to keep calling them if they don't return my phone call there is nothing else I can do. The service fees are overpriced, the place they assigned me to never called me back after 2 months of trying ro do a orientation. This was a waste of my money. I am going to complain to the Court.

Took my wife and 2-year-old daughter to their family fun fair, and we had a great time. Lots of fun crafts and games, and some really great raffle prizes. Looking forward to it again next year.

I believe you may have us confused with another business. We don't have a winter/spring schedule like this, nor do we have hours 7 days a week.
We are not a direct service provider. Rather, we have a food pantry called the Food For Kids program. Through this program, we partner with schools to provide bags of non-perishable food to the students with the highest need on Fridays. Learn more at www.volcenter.org/food-for-kids.
Greetings Jose, In order to guide you better, please contact our office at 310-212-7997. Thanks!
Please call the office where you registered, so they can walk you through the process. -The Volunteer Center team
Thank you for your inquiry! We have created a page on our website to help people find ways to serve the community, including links to three volunteer search databases and details on volunteering with local organizations. You can find this information at www.volcenter.org/volunteer-opportunities.
We have created a page on our website to help people find ways to serve the community, including links to three volunteer search databases and details on volunteering with local organizations. You can find it at www.volcenter.org/volunteer-opportunities. If you are specifically interested in any of our programs, including our new focus on youth mental health, please let us know. We don't currently have any openings for volunteers at the moment, but we can keep you in mind for the future!
Hi Christian - thank you for your inquiry! We love working with Easterseals, and couldn’t do our Food for Kids program without their loyal volunteer hours! Currently, we already work with several teams located here in Torrance who walk over each week to help us. If anything should change in the future, and we need additional help, we will keep the San Pedro branch in mind!
We do not directly provide meals to the homeless. We provide bags of food to schools with students who are eligible for the Free and Reduced Meal Program through Title I and they are distributed to those students/families through the schools.
