Doctors are extremely rude and have a horrible bedside manner with elderly patients. Also discriminate verbally if not vaccinated. Things have continued to get worse with each year. They are also on a time constraint -get in in and out like cattle

Today I had a 3:00pm doctors appointment that has been scheduled for weeks. On a different issue and nothing to do with the scheduled appointment I thought I would have my ear/throat checked out as I had some pain the last few days. As I enter the building I am asked if I have an appointment, I reply yes . Then I am asked a litany of questions such as do you have a fever , chills , shortness of breath etc . I answer no as I had none of the symptoms. At this point I am permitted to enter the building. I check in at urgent care for the sore ear/throat issue then I take care of my 3:00pm appointment. It is usually an hour wait for urgent care so i figured if I am called while I am at my 3:00pm appointment I will be put at the bottom of the list, no biggie it’s a chance I am willing to take. So when I am done with my 3:00pm appointment I ask urgent care staff if my name was called. This is when the drama begins , the staff member at urgent care becomes unglued saying I should not be in the hospital because I was sick , she then proceeds to say I only got in the building as I said I had an appointment. Yup , correct, I did have an appointment. Then she said I answered no to the COVID screening questions. Yup, correct, I told her I had none of the symptoms asked of me. The staff member at this point looks like she is about to have a full blown panic attack saying I shouldn’t be in the building as I was sick! Raised voice, obviously very upset, hyperventilating like I had some kind of contagious disease and in front of patients in a public waiting room!!! So embarrassed! Seriously humiliated being spoken to in this degrading manner. Not all questions posed to a patient fits into a tidy box! And when an anomaly happens like it did today maybe the staff should learn to contain their anxiety/paranoia/panic because the staff member looked like she was about have a melt down! It’s called being a professional under different circumstances and dealing with the issue in a calm manner, not falling apart. The staff need to be trained in customer service. Shameful, unprofessional behavior that could have been avoided if assumptions weren’t made, if the right questions were asked but more importantly if the staff had the common sense to deal with an Issue. Common sense, respect for patients goes a long way!

(A view from a former employee) During COVID-19 times: If you get there early you may have to wait in the Covid-19 line, Before you enter the door you are greeted by very friendly nurses checking your temperature. I have really only worked with the receptionists down stairs in the basement area. They are, mainly, for the Endocrinologist, Pediatrics, and Wound care. Everyone is very, very friendly. The wound care department is exceptional. They are an offshoot from HealthCare Partners Wound Care clinic in Pasadena. There is no other wound care in the Optum organization. That’s a problem with the higher ups. The old Healthcare partners and New Optum ownership don’t see a need for saving patients limbs outside of those 2 offices. The physicians are top rate and dedicated to their patients beyond their Hippocratic oath. You will be very taken care of if you have to visit the Wound care team here at Magan Medical. I can say the same for Dr Kurban MD for Endocrinology. Dr Kurban and his Medical Assistant Lulu will take care of you. There are also great patient advocates at Magan Medical. They work just as hard, for your well being, as the doctors. Do Not call Magan Medical clinic. I have and I ALWAYS regret it. The operators are well trained but the manager if the department has no clue how to manage the phone tree. You will regret calling.

I have been going to Magan Clinic for over 25 years. I was concerned when I saw the negative reviews here. Today I needed to go to Urgent Care for an eye issue. I was seen in less than 30 minutes, staff was friendly and courteous, and they even referred me to Ophthalmology in the spot. I had about an hour wait in Ophthalmology (they squeezed me in) and my issue was resolved that same morning. I have never had a problem at Magan and this visit was nothing but positive. Waiting for Urgent care can be frustrating, but if they are busy it is because they are doing the best they can, based upon current medical needs of those seeking care. I highly recommended Magan Clinic. I think that you should disregard the negative reviews. Thanks.

Magan Medical Clinic Profile and History Magan Medical Clinic, Inc. was founded in 1919 by Dr. W.P. Magan, Sr. From 1923 to 1967 the Clinic was located at 155 West College Street, Covina, California. However, continued expansion of the practice made it necessary to move to a larger facility, and the Clinic moved to its present address on Rowland St. October 1, 1967. Again, in 1989, the Clinic expanded the building to its current size.
