Lazy and rude bunch. Should be retrained with some friendly skills. Don't treat a good citizen like they are all bad. I've called them too many times to remember about illegal firecrackers in my neighorborhood. The first time they said to go find who was doing them. Isn't that their job? After so many fires, deaths and injuries due to use of illegal fireworks I assumed it was worth them checking out. But...the noise and smoke continues after 6 1/2 years.

Our family has had and viewed a number of interactions with Sheriff Department personnel. In each instance the officers have acted promptly and professionally. We give the Lomita Department a firm 10 and are quite willing to discuss the details of these incidents with any interested party.

I have called twice in the last few weeks to report non-emergency situations. The first time I called was because someone just dropped their children (3 children ages 8-10) off at the park and just left them there. I was there with my son for over an hour and no one came back to pick up the kids. Whoever I talked to was incredibly unhelpful. He was asking me if there were other adults there and how I knew that they were unattended. It was obvious because no one interacted with them the entire time they were there. I still don't know if they checked it out. I went back myself to check and the kids were gone, so I can only hope they made it home ok. I called again tonight because there has been a whistling sound since before 8 p.m. and it's 1 a.m now. The officer said, "I don't know what law enforcement can do for you". I mentioned the noise ordinance and he said, "Well if it's a machine, I don't know who would be responsible for that". I sincerely hope they are more helpful in the event of actual emergencies. Otherwise, there is absolutely no point in calling them. They won't do $&*%.
