This place is great for fishing. It can get busy and a little crowded but it's always fun. It has a pretty long pier and parking is not to expensive. We usually catch fish every time we go out. Mostly mackerel bit a few other species too. If it's not mackerel then more than likely you're going to have to throw back whatever you catch. They're not the healthiest to eat but there is some good fish out there too that you can definitely take home and cook for dinner. And if you go on a Sunday evening you can watch the cruise ship leave.

Before you head out here one important thing to know is NO you can't walk out to the Lighthouse on the breakwater. It is closed to the public. 😭 There is a nice covered area on the Pier for events and expect people to be fishing. Parking usually isn't a problem but make sure you pay ...they do check.

Yes
Not too great. Mostly small mackerel and smelt lately.
Yes
Waiting on mayor for the go to reopen it.
The jetty is kind of like a breakwater constructed to protect or defend a harbor,
Yeah sadly it's been closed with gates last time I went it was completely shut off and locked with chains and gates
Shrimp from the market, to a medium shrimp, split it into 2 and use it. That works for most fish. Now that if you want something more "big" like a stingray or maybe shark, you can use squid (whole) mackarel or macro (in pieces) or frozen anchovies (whole). Hopefully it will serve you something and good luck.
I believe yes license is required but you can call this # to make sure (949) 642-0646
Yes. However, some areas may be restricted areas because of police activity.
If a fisherman catches and fails to release an undersized or out of season species, he can get cited and his/her gear confiscated. Our waters are patrolled by DFG in and out of uniform.
