I used to think this was a decent bookstore for what it was until a few things happened or surfaced. After the mask mandate was dropped my family and I had gone in planning to look around only to be told in a very rude manner that if we didn't have masks to leave. We were both fully vaccinated. It was uncalled for. I lost respect for Phoenix books in that moment. Secondly I had learned that a few friends of ours who are local authors had been screwed over by Phoenix having their books banned and not recieved their dues for all their book sales.Their customer service lacks severely never asking once if we ever needed help they would rather chat amongst themselves. I'd rather shop at Bookmobile and online then ever go into Phoenix bookstore ever again. Lost my business forever. If you're looking for a pleasant bookstore experience don't go to Phoenix.

I went in hoping to get a couple of books and a gift- I was the only person in the store with two people working- not one of them said anything to me or offered to assist me with finding anything. The selection was rather sparse, as I couldn't find any of the books I was looking for- both fairly popular new releases. I had hoped for a nice experience in an actual bookstore, and to maybe get a few suggestions for future purchases- I guess I will stick to Amazon.

The staff is always courteous and helpful. If you are a frequent and avid book buyer I highly recommend the book club. The selection of books, stationary, and gifts is excellent. If they don't have a title you are looking for in stock, the ordering process is simple and reliable. Staff are always clear about expected timetable, the likelihood for delays, and communicative about changes. Easily one of my favorite shops in Rutland!
