We have lived at Touchmark for 8 months. Even with all the issues caused by Covid-19 we love living at Touchmark. The staff is outstanding in every way. The residents are delightful. The buildings are well maintained and the views are beautiful. There are many residential selections and everything reasonable is done to update and please a new resident. Meals have been a challenge during covid, just like everywhere, and the Touchmark staff does everything possible to make our dining experience the best it can be. We can always find something delicious to eat. We enjoy eating in the Four Seasons dining room where the servers are terrific! We plan to be at beautiful Touchmark for the rest of our lives. We are proud to say we live at Touchmark.

I had a terrible experience with Touchmark. But like everything my parents' experience was a mixed bag. The staff and the caregivers were awesome. My parents loved many of the staff at Touchmark and they went out of their way to help my mom and dad on a regular basis. The caregivers went above and beyond, especially for my mom. The cooks and servers were great also. If this was a review of staff, I would have given 5 stars! The management, however, was not so great....Like many large corporations, the bottom line drives everything from price, to services offered, and willingness to accommodate the challenges of aging people. The most upsetting event was when they requested that my mom move out of the assisted care wing a few months after my dad died because her level of care had increased so greatly. They claimed that they were not licensed to accommodate her needs, so she would have to move her to a new facility. This request that was probably illegal under Oregon law (I now understand in talking to State). Moreover the phone number listed in the Assisted care wing for the Ombudsman (state appointed person who will advocate for elderly) not valid and was not a real person. Moving my elderly 86 year old wheelchair-bound mother into a new facility was not the way I was hoping to spend time with her in her last year. The stress of moving to a new and unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people probably hastened her passing. Touchmark markets themselves as place to move when you get older. A place that will accommodate the transitions older people face when aging. They claim to take care of you as you age, with a assisted care wing, an memory wing, home care aids, etc. You'll never have to move again, they claim. For my aging mother this was not the case and added stress and difficulty to an already challenging situation.

My grandfather is a resident here and although she seems to like it enough... there a lot of shady things about this place that she doesen't like and it sounds like a lot of other residents don't either. For one the building is very cold during the winter (other then the rooms which the residents control the heat) in the common areas and hallways where people like do puzzles and play games ect... Because of this my grandfather stays in his room on most cold days and doesen't socialize which is not good for him as its already hard enough to get her out to socialize. This is a minor issue compared to what I find is the biggest problem; Touchmark is freaking expensive ( roughly 4200$ for the bigger 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment ) which wouldn't be a problem if that price included a lot of things which aren't included like wifi, cable meals ect. and honestly the rooms aren't that nice for what your paying for as they look about that same as some of the cheaper senior homes. The building itself and the grounds are very nice though so it does have a good atmosphere. Everything I said definitely does not make this place deserve 1 stars but the kicker for me was seeing how they are feeding the poor senior citizens. I have been coming to eat dinner with my grandpa at Touchmark pretty much since they opened and they used to have good meals with high quality food but over the years this has changed. Just recently I went to eat with my Grandfather (1/14/2016) and the overall quality of the food was horrible and the food tasted very bland as it has the past 10 times I've went, and on this night in particular it was there special birthday dinner that they have once a month for all the seniors that have birthdays and I can honestly say this is the best night to come visit a loved one at this place for dinner because on other nights the food is even worse and they come in very small portions. Average meal price is around 14$ which is ridiculous if you ask me. I asked my Grandfather if anyone has complained about the food situation and he said many people have and that's the biggest complaint there among seniors and that Touchmark has done nothing to fix this and the quality continues to decline. P.S sorry if this isn't well written I'm typing it on my phone and can't scroll up to make edits. I am mainly writing this in hopes someone at Touchmark will see this and make some changes. (Which I am almost positive they won't)

Residential care (or attended living, as it is sometimes called) provides health services, caregiving assistance, and meal options. These services are tailored to support residents to their highest level of independence. Spacious lodge homes are located near a restaurant-style dining area. The basic plan includes three meals a day, all utilities except phone, weekly housekeeping service, and all the benefits of our award-winning Full Life Wellness & Life Enrichment Program™. Licensed nurses supervise caregivers, who provide services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Prior to moving to residential care, one of our nurses will visit a prospective resident and conduct an in-depth assessment. A personalized service plan is then developed; this plan is updated every 90 days or when there is a change in someone's health status.

Are youguys always taking applications for caregivers? I will be relocating to Bend, from Portland in early January.
