This cabin was perfect! My fiance and I stayed for a couple of days and everything we needed was there. The location was amazing and Brian was very kind as well as professional. We will definitely be staying again.

This was an experimental first vacation to see how the kids would handle a 6hr drive. On the way there, we broke it up stopping at Hessel splash pad in Champaign. On the way home, we stopped at Boo Rochman Memorial Park in Carbondale and then a drive through zoo Aikman Wildlife Adventure in Arcola. These were all great places to break up the ride if you have kids. Without those stops, It may have been difficult. We wore them out and kept on truckin'. If you make this drive from the Chicago Area, savor the drive there. It's a very relaxing drive with no traffic on Interstate 57. Big open skies and cruise control. Wish I could say that about the way home but that special feeling of heading out towards your adventure is nothing like driving back to reality. Now, as for the five star rating: This place was magical. We live in Evanston and felt like we were transported into a dream. Firstly, The location. Alto Pass was beautiful. Wine country, Farms (like real ones not the big crazy factory stuff), Fresh Air, pull over scenic views of beautiful valleys and a whole lot of really nice people were there. As we didn't know how things would work out, we only stayed at the Cabin on the Creek for 2 days. That was our only big mistake. The kids loved every second of this place. We'll need a minimum of 4-5 days next time. The Cabin location was so private. We're used to camping and love the outdoors. We're not ready to camp with the little one yet so this was the perfect fit. The kids loved playing in the creek and exploring the woods. The time spent at the cabin was just the best. The deck over looks the creek and you're surrounded by forest. The accommodations were perfect too. We also made good use of a huge fire pit area. Perfect place to stay while you check out all that Alto Pass and it's surrounding area offers. We had a great time too at Giant City State Park. Do the Nature Trail with kids, it was so much fun and my 2 year old surprisingly charged through it. There were a couple other hikes I'd love to do but not good for the kids. Also, The wine country was left untapped for us. However, what fun that would have been. Tons of stuff to do here and stay at the Cabin on the Creek if you want a nature intimate home base.

"Just what the doctor ordered"...The cabin was very clean with nice modern furnishings. The hot tub on the deck was icing on the cake. Brian was very accommodating in meeting all of our needs. I will definitely be a repeat customer and I recommend Cabin on the Creek to everyone.

I booked the cabin on the creek in April and when I contacted Brian two weeks prior to coming to get the address he told me that he double booked the cabin. He told me that he had another cabin I could stay in and he would give me a free weekend in the original cabin another time. I show up to this other cabin after driving over 5 hours and cannot get in as Brian never gave me the code. The last time I had cell reception was about a half hour before getting there. Finally get the code and am told to make sure I keep everything locked up because there are meth heads and people get stuff stolen all the time there. I pull up to the cabin and it's part of a pole barn with a dumpster overflowing with garbage at the front door. I did not end up staying there and I will never rent a cabin from Brian and will recommend other places to anyone who asks.
