I typically bounce between the south city and chesterfield locations. The South City Y is comparable in size and quality. My only complaint is the water temperature in the pool. It's too hot for lap swimming. Feels kind of gross...I guess it's a good temperature for small children.

I love the South City gym. I used to go to the Mid-County location, but started using the South City gym because it's closer to work. The gym seems more spacious, equipment is more spread out and there's multiple sections for free weights. Plenty of locker storage, which I can not say for the Mid-County location. I will say the lockers have seen better days. The sauna is always nice and hot, which I can appreciate. Overall, I never feel crowded there. The staff is always super pleasant and friendly. I've experienced this friendly service at all the branches I've visited, and it's one of the many reasons why I love the Y.

This is a really nice facility. There are plenty of work out options - machines, free weights and floor exercises. If you want to make new friends - you have that opportunity. But if you just want to work out - come and go, you can do that just as easily. I enjoy the atmosphere and family friendly environment. Give it a try!

The South City YMCA provides more than just a work out. It is a place to feel connected and celebrate healthy living with others. I have especially enjoyed the group exercise classes. I go for the work out, but I return for the camaraderie of the other members and the fun personalities of the instructors.
