This is such a great museum. It's just the right size with a really great collection. Very fun for both kids and adults. My 5 year old can't wait to go back.

A small and beautiful museum. Hidden away but I cannot recommend the Alf Musuem enough. Friendly staff, a wonderful representation of evolutionary biology. Housed in a cylindrical building with two floors, the bottom holds footprint impressions, early California mamalian skeletons and a interactive area for children.

How come there are no giant humanoid skeletons, much more relevant to us than dinosaurs? Did the Smithsonian make some rule that these are not spoken of?

This museum was founded by a paleontologist and not paleoanthropologist. Although one might think it to be similar, the studies and focuses differ for each museum. There are some good Hominid exhibits in Los Angeles and San Diego.
