I'm a presidents circle member, and have been renting from hertz for many years. My interactions with the customer service staff is usually minimum to none. I just go to the presidents circle lot, pick a car and drive away. This one time at Hertz O'Hare Airport, I had an opportunity to interact with the customer service manager, and this is the story of how that went. I had rented a car for a 3 weeks period. About a week into my rental, oil change light came on. So, I called the Hertz customer service and they said that I could just bring the car back to the rental facility for an exchange. I brought the car in and told the customer service rep that I need to get an exchange. And the rep said to go to the presidents circle lot and pick another car, so he can do the exchange for me. It is then, that we ran into his manager in the parking lot who started saying that they cannot allow me to take a car from the presidential lot. And that they'll assign me a car. And I said that I'm a presidents circle member. I should be able to just take a car from the lot. But he did not budge. We had a heated exchange, in which he said that I don't understand their business, and I said that I don't know why you can't make an exception. Long story short, this is not how anyone who rents over 25 times a year would want to be treated. I would not recommend this location.

I lost my wallet in one of their rental cars. The general manager, Craig, bent over backwards, went above and beyond working day and night and was able to recover my lost property. My wallet was returned exactly as I had lost it, with all of its original contents. I am eternally grateful to Craig for saving me from a disaster of epic proportions. Craig exemplifies everything good about humanity that keeps our society functioning. He is kind and resourceful, and answered all of my inquiries in an expedient manner.

I love the ability to pick my own car and drive away. Unfortunately, Hertz has overcharged me by varying amounts on multiple rentals out of this locations. Calls to customer service have not resolved the issues. They offer credits when I bring to their attention, but this is a hassle I am no longer going to take on.

I would never ever consider Hertz rental again. There is no people on site. You are coming to garage and there is a board, - and you need to search for one of thousand parking spots by yourself. I am not even saying that there is no proper corridors for pedestrians and you can be easily hit by vehicle. The only lady working in garage and she was assisting new customers. I was not able to open trunk of car. Nor with button nor with remote control. I had the same vehicle before. I know how to open it. But I was not able. This is just insane. Once I returned the vehicle, - I was told that my receipt will be in my email in 2 minutes. Well, - it never arrived in 2 days. Then I called that crazy phone line and super crazy lady barely sent it to my email. She was always putting her mic on mute and I was not able to communicate with her. Hertz, I hope your monopoly soon will be ended.

At night it can be up to a 45 minute wait (1 driver or 2 drivers) but they run 24/7 here
As Daniel said, check the internet. Sometimes you can make a better deal at the counter. Also, check your airline.
Yes, I have never had a problem getting to and from the airport and to the Hertz location using their shuttle.
