The Norton Simon Museum is one of my favorite places to visit . I love the magnificent collection of beautiful artwork and the museum store where one can purchase a card with works of Van Gogh or Monet or a petite replica of the Degas ballerina statue. After all of the walking around, I truly enjoy a snack by the lovely lily pond outside of the museum at the Cafe.

The main floor is broken up into four wings. Each wing spans a different time period. The gift shop is located on the main floor as well as access to the sculpture garden which is a beautiful setting. Downstairs there are south and southeast Asian sculptures. Then kind of tucked away on the lower level was a special exhibit. Saw a lot of famous pieces here. I’ve seen so many prints of Diego Rivera’s The Flower Vendor, and it was great to finally see the original. There were also pieces by Van Gogh and Picasso.

Norton Simon is a treasure of a museum. It is right off the 134 freeway in Pasadena. So much to see. My favorite part is how you can download the app and get a private little tour right from your cell phone. Love the garden as well so beautiful. Parking is free and if you have your student ID you get in for free. I love going to Norton Simon for my weekend outing.

This is now my favorite museum. It is quiet and small, but packed with some of the most amazing art in the world. The garden cafe is also reasonably priced for some really great food. One word…DEGAS. No wait, two words…Van Gogh!

Yes. The cafe is located in the corner of a lovely garden, further distinguished by numerous Rodin sculptures. Tables & chairs overlook a small lily pond; you'll also see a family of geese nonchalantly walking around. The cafe itself has different types of coffee (w/ non-dairy creamer options), pastries & other usual coffee shop products.
Yes you can but that day I went they had problems with it.
Call first.
I don't think they provide them, but it looked pretty accessible to me.
Hi Katherine, The answer is no, you cannot take your own food to the museum, unless you have dietary restrictions, in which case please let a manager know. Otherwise, you will be asked to put your food back in your car. Enjoy your visit!
Call them first. Also, JP Getty has a big conservatory lab, should you need to authenticate your painting.
Norton Simon was a philanthropist and art collector. The Norton Simon is an art museum named after him.

Doesn't. I searched in the catalogue of the museum in the exhibition now
I don't know about the buisnes of art, but the museum is wonderful to visit and enjoy amazing art from all around the world. I hope you make it in, Nona!
Unfortunately, the Norton Simon Museum will not be participating in the free-for-all this weekend. However, we will be free Friday, February 1st from 5-8 p.m.
Dear Marcella, We do allow guests to visit the store and the cafe without paying admission. You need to tell a security staff in the main entrance or at the admissions desk and they will alert the floor staff. Enjoy.
Yes, they are open today. They only close on three major holidays and this is not one of them. You can also learn more on NortonSimon.org

Hi Luisa, We have a free parking lot. Most times there are plenty of spaces but on our First Free Friday hours, and weekends with special events, it can fill up. However, folks can generally find nearby street parking. We are also on several Metro and Pasadena transit lines, and we have bike parking, too. Enjoy!
There are as many as five bus stops from three different lines (10; 180/181; 256( in the sorrounding corners.
