A family loved establishment - no more. Lunch: Went there with my child and they automatically added a 20% tip (pre-tip) on a small order and asked for another tip-the overall tip was equivalent to the purchase of food. Dinner: My child went again (months later) with another and was told they didn't order enough food to be served - they were forced to order more to be served? What is the magical amount to eat in your restaurant? Then they automatically added a 20% (pre-tip) and asked for another tip. By the way - what happened to the quality of food/service for the price (crazy tips) you are demanding? Don't know what is going on there, but if you have a new policy in place - post it at the door. Don't be shady - present your pre-tip (and request for additional tips) policy upfront. I'm not the first one to post-it. Read the comments folks and find another place to go.

Meh. Recently I stopped in there for dinner. The staff was very friendly which is great. The downside is I felt the food was kind of just okay which wouldn't be a problem except it's also fairly expensive. Dishes like my General Tso's chicken are currently $19. Okay fine a little high in my opinion but then a couple things felt a little sketchy to me when it came to the bill. When my check came I saw they took the liberty of adding on a gratuity ($4.xx). That was pretty much what I was going to tip anyway but not sure why they felt it necessary to add it on themselves. I know how to do math and I wasn't going to stiff anybody on the tip - I don't do that. So my dish and a soda and the gratuity they added on themselves plus tax came to $28.xx. Fine. Paid with a credit card and when they brought the receipt to sign, it still included the spot to add your own gratuity (which okay fine I get the machine probably just prints that automatically). Above that was my total of $28.xx but it was labeled "pre-tip total" or something to that effect. The dollar amount was definitely not "pre-tip". It included the tip they added on themselves. I wonder how many people do not pay attention and unknowingly add another tip on top of what the restaurant has already added on as a gratuity. I don't know if that is done intentionally in the hopes of receiving a double tip from unobservant diners or not. At this point for me it doesn't matter. It all just seemed unnecessarily shady even if it wasn't their intention. Given this, plus the average food at above-average prices, means I will not be returning.

The food and service were both top notch. They have a wide range of menu options at reasonable prices. Serving sizes are large, but not unreasonable. Next time, I will have them box half of my meal before it even comes to the table.

Smile You're on Camera :) Welcome to Hong Kong Cafe! Upon entering the restaurant I found my group, and noticed we were seated near a live security camera feed for the exterior of the restaurant.....I've read a few reviews stating this place has the best Chinese food in Madison. WHAT!?!?! The food arrived suspiciously fast while my dish: A Shrimp, Pork, Chicken combo arrived with the quality, and taste of a $5 Lunch special in any random Milwaukee Chinese American restaurant, yet featured a $15+ Price Tag. I did also try a few other shared table dishes which yielded very similar results. The one thing this restaurant has going for it: The upbeat attitudes of the employees.

The last time I was there I did not wear a mask and neither did the staff.
