This place is fabulous! It is truly one of the hidden gems in our area. There is always something fun going on. We just so happened to come on the same day that they were were featuring the caterpillar lab group. The staff is always friendly and the multiple nature trails that feature caves are wonderful!

Really neat place to visit. Not much for sweeping vistas as it is tucked back into the forest. Be ready to climb stairs as you'll be experiencing all different elevations. It's not too many stairs. My only gripe was the worker with the leaf blower. That noise went on for way too long and could have been done after hours.

Beautiful place to go and hike, we went in a cave and walked all around the museum trails. We will go back to do other hikes in the area. If you can not walk multiple sets of steep steps I would not recommend this location. I also would not take smaller children.

First time going to this hidden gem. The pictures are of the .5 mile trail. I can't seem to remember the name of it. But the trail was nice and picturesque. Be careful with the steps going down as I felt they could have the potential to be slick with the leaves but there is a handrail to hold on to while descending to the lower part of the gorge. There was also another trail but I ran out of time to do. I believe it was 3.0 miles give or take. I would assume it would take you to the top of the gorge to look down. (Only speculation though).

We are open to the public April through October everyday. You are able to receive a free hiking pass from 9am to 5pm to hike our trails.
Go past the main lot (currently closed) 1.5 miles. Lot on the right with 2 trails.
Guests are asked to stay on the trails to help preserve the sanctuary.
Barrett's Rim Trail is highly recommended, very scenic. Kamelands Trail is also nice and you get to go under US 50 through an old cattle tunnel.
There's a lot of haunted house's right now your best bet is to watch your papers. They are a lot more haunted house then ever. Everyone wants to get scared around Halloween. So they're more then ever now so your best bet is to check your papers or even Facebook can help.
It is not. I'd call and ask at the Nature Santuary Museum. They have rangers there.
No the area is now a bat sanctuary. The Forest Museum is open nearby and worth a visit. Plus you can walk several trails and see the beautiful river views.
