I wish I could give a minus in front of the star or no star. Hyder doesnt seem to care what type of manager they hire for the low income senior complex called Potikers in downtown San Diego. Been here over 5 yrs and have seen 2 really bad managers and 1 really good manager and unfortunately she left right away. Had really high Hope's thought maybe this place would be run professionally and cleaned up. Nope!! Her replacement shouldn't even be working with seniors she and her asst have an attitude that if a tenant doesnt like it here they can move! What? Why should any resident have to move because the property management doesnt or is unable to perform or job correctly?? When u first sign on that dotted line the fact they dont disclose information about the bed bugs, the roaches and the homeless being able to run in and out at all hrs. It got really a lot worse with the COVID 19 lockdown. It was this mangers opportunity to shut down everything from cleaning (no disinfecting to date) to halt inspections for the ever present bed bugs and roaches. She already had cut way back on the professionals coming out to spray at a set time ea month. Then when bed bugs are confirmed in a unit or common area NO ONE IS NOTIFIED. THE SRTOUNDING AREAS AND CONNECTING APTS ARE NOT SPRAYED. Which is against CA civil code updates regarding bed bug laws The CDC recommendations have basically been ignored even though this is a high risk complex. Of course the manager and her assistant have been completely enclosed in plexiglass glass walls, crime tape and most recently blinds to keep tenants at bay. What's going on here?? They dont disinfect common areas, 24 hr security is not an option ( homeless run naked in the hallways and bum rush the door when a tenant is leaving or coming in), handwashing stations smell like sewage and attracted mosquitos, even the garbage backs up 5 floors and sits there in the entire weekend. This place is raising the rent yet this place has not been renovated like others properties. Apts dont have ac. Its nasty here. Rent someplace else.

This is not a serious management company, they don’t help, they ignore serious complaints , I don’t recommend people to rent from them. I had an experience, with documentation, yet no one helped. 6 months of harassment, till I was able to find a better place somewhere else.

The Potiker Building is infested with Bed Bugs and cockroaches!! There are foul, ill mannered, rude, often with poor hygiene, tenants; many are off the street with drug and alcohol issues; some tenants have been out of prison for as little as 3 years; there are many thefts even though management has placed cameras on all floors; there is a lack of Security, in the evening, which invites homeless individuals to roam the hallways in the wee hours of the morning. Potiker Management is not helpful in many instances; the building is poorly maintained - rapidly falling into disrepair. Since 2010, there have been 5 sets of managers, who did not not understand their work within the context of Gerontology. The lack of integrity is disconcerting. Management treats seniors with disparaging, disdainful, impudent, dismissive attitudes. This building is HUD, the owners and investors get a tax credit for renting under market value, Section 8 is welcome; there are also Project Based Ulnits. And, it houses the offices of Serving Seniors who only look good on paper, but in reality they are about serving themselves. The level of incompetence managing this difficult population is palpable. Don’t move-in unless you are desperate and distressed.

Hyder Property Management is horrible. They either can't or won't do anything about problematic neighbors, no matter how many complaints are made against them by multiple neighbors. For example, there have been at least 15, yes 15, complaints made against my current neighbors over the course of 9 months (that must be some sort of record), and yet nothing has been done to get rid of them. The manager does what she can, but nothing has changed this entire time. Every single night, from the first night they moved in, has been full of loud thumping music, cabinets slamming, and the couple fighting which lead to at least 6 police calls, 1 car chase, and an arrest...all by the same person who is not even on the lease, but has lived there every single night causing problems...except the 3 nights he was in jail for domestic abuse. There is no peace where I live anymore so I and many others I know are leaving. Never again will we live in a place managed by Hyder & Co.
