I've went fishing 15 different times on the Vonda Kay. Every trip has been great. Some I didn't catch much but I still had a great time out on the water. Also every trip I've been on the Capt is gonna do everything he can to put you on the fish. The Galley has great food for breakfast and lunch. Also drinks and some snacks for sale. The Mates will do everything they can to accommodate for your level of skill , but don't expect to be babied. Also this is a fishing vessel not a luxury cruise ship, keep that in mind before coming onboard. The bathrooms will meet the need but it's not like onshore toilets. Best to bring a couple grocery bags and some wet wipes. Also the tackle they will lend you for the trip isn't the best but that's because everyone can use it. I bring my own tackle and baits but they will provide everything you need to see if deep sea fishing is for you. I'd also suggest wearing water proof or resistant foot wear. It gets wet on the deck. But if you are planning a trip where fishing is what you want to do and you don't want to spend and arm and leg the Vonda Kay is the way to go. Just bring some common sense.

I won the fishing tournament the boat had for the day!! So…..it can be absolutely awesome, but if you get sea sick it will be a nightmare! Take Dramamine, eat a very heavy breakfast, and if you feel sick start eating!!! If you’ve never been on a long distance trip do the half day, the fish are way smaller, but your way less likely to get sick and if you do, it’s for 4 hours not 8.

I’ve been on this boat probably 10+ Times always enjoy myself. Boat can be a wet ride and no braid allowed so just be aware of that ahead of time. Cook is great and had some really good food on this boat. While the crew isn’t the most bubbly they know what they are doing and help you get on some nice fish.
