I was pleasantly surprised at how painless it was to get my plans approved. The staff was helpful and friendly too.

They have changed!!! Came here to pull permit(3/11/21) today and everything is very organized and efficiently working. Great to see all system in place! They even texting me updating on how many people in line. Nice see smiles coming from people working here too. Keep up the good work SF building department! Thank you

They need a customer satisfaction and comment program so the Mayor and City Council knows how horrible and arbitrary over the counter approvals are. Now, I submit my drawings for the formal plan check where their plan check comments are in writing and I don't waste my time going back and forth hearing different comments from plan checkers that plainly don't have the public's interest at heart.

This is a tough one. May not be as bad now as it used to be, but the core problem remains. We have been pulling permits here for 17 years. The biggest problem is not the cost, the delay, the complexity, or the hassle; it is the lack of any consistency in the information they provide. The same application can be denied in the morning but accepted in the afternoon. The revisions yesterday's plan checker demanded will be ignored the next time you submit and NEW revisions, never mentioned before, will be required. Most of the folks there, however, honestly do their best to be fair and equitable. The beaurocracy just makes it feel like the City is looking for ANY possible excuse to deny issuing your permit.

C36 licensed plumber required or you can pull a homeowner's per.it if it's a single family home and you do the work yourself.

Jennifer...I would call pg and e. If you need the city to inspect, call and ask to talk to district electrical inspector during office hours, probably 330.
Takes some time but they will help you out. Call and they will get you started.

Depends on how large the leak is no permit required to patch or change glass. If you change the window youll need a permit
Over 200 square feet you need a gutter and downspout that is connected to the building sewer
