Due to several mid-steps on my part, my grandchildren believed someone had broken into their home yesterday, when I dropped by unannounced, for a swim in their pool. Four teens in an upstairs guest room, AC & music blaring, didn’t hear me when I entered & announced my presence. One panic moment led to another when they heard noises downstairs & 911 was called. I wish to thank the professional, kind & understanding dispatcher & police officers who sorted things out. I feel very grateful & very foolish at the same time. When this heatwave ends, maybe I’ll regain full brain function. My apologies to all those I upset. Gail Lynch Dugan

I was given a written warning for a headlight out. I explained to the officer I had hit a deer 10 minutes earlier and had called the Burlington police. How am I supposed to get this taken care of in 72 hours like the written warning says.

Usually you get about a week to comply. Bring a copy of your accident report from BPD if it will take longer to fix.
