The campsites are just like any other campsite where you have a small hike to your campsite, accept here... you are along the coast and you truly are one with the Pacific Coast and it's unpredictable weather. Coastal fog, morning mist, moist salty air, chilly nights, or sunny day. My type of weather. Just come prepared.

Great walk in Campground, lot of space between sites, very well cared for by Rangers. Vault toilets are clean, beautiful beach access, saw Ospreys etc. Warning do not leave your site unattended with anything out day or night. The Racoons like to party hard at this campground. Highly recommend Coast Campground. Good first backpacking or bikepacking site. Park by the parking lot past the hostel, 3.5 miles in from there.

Perfect beginner's backpacking trip for families. Three flat miles in via Coast Trail and two miles out via Fire Lane/Laguna trails. Beautiful beach, potable water from two faucets, relatively clean pit toilets. I would recommend groups and campers with kids stay in sites 8-14. While they are less private, they are flat, close the water/bathrooms, and mostly on grass instead of dirt (which gets everywhere with kids).

Though I did not stay the night, I enjoyed the view of the site. This place gets very windy. I would suggest getting a sturdy tent as there are not many places to block the wind. Half of the camp sites are shared. In addition, it is known that this site has a rodent problem. Some boxes have holes in them. I'd suggest bringing something to cover it and close the door of the box securely.

Pretty high I think. I was there a week ago and of the 4 walk up sites they usually have available only one was due to downed trees. Add in that is a weekend and even less chance. That being said, someone has gotta get those sites so if so just make sure you're first in line
It's a hike-in campground. So that would be negative on the travel trailer... Unless you're training for the strong man Olympics
The fastest way is mountain bike, 2.9 mi. Burn Driftwood only, never enough, so we load a kids bike trailer for a nice fire on the beach.
Sites 1-7 have visible privacy but are close to each other and groups could easily disturb each other. I would suggest sites 13 or 14 where you are furthest away from others.
From coast camp it's less than a quarter mile depending on which site you're staying at, maybe a 5 minute walk at most.
