We regularly mountain bike at Henry Coe, and it offers a wonderful variety of trails. Since I started riding here I don't like riding anywhere else.

Henry Coe is just about the closest, best backpacking destination you can find for the bay area. I would strongly recommend backpacking here in spring, while the wildflowers are in bloom and before the heat kicks in. There is an endless supply of trails to possibly interesting lakes and creeks, which keeps the experience fun. In winter it tends to be a bit wet, and in the summer the heat and chaparral can be fairly unpleasant. This destination stands in as one of my staples for when the sierra are inaccessible. Watch out for ticks and poison oak.

Parking lot is well maintained. $6.00 for all day parking. We were there to hike. We took the Jim Donnelly trail then switch to the Steer Ridge trail to loop back. It was a moderate 10 miles hike with rewarding beautiful view and especially the wild flowers.

One of the nicest placest to mountain bike in northern California's bay area Hiking and horses share the trails also! Several awesome fast curvy downhills. Take your time to learn the trail systems, climbs can be grueling but be patient they get easier after three rides. Some very nice views on your climbs and along the ridges. Gulch trails will have small creeks running or springs seeping water. The weekends you'll sometimes cross paths with hikers and horse back riders but Be considerate to hikers and horse back riders. We all share the trails and have a mutual respect. Be sure to bring plenty of water. Enjoy!

No hunting there, in spite of the name Hunting Hollow.
