What a gift that this Preserve exists! Trails were well marked and the path around the lake was very easy to walk. For an additional challenge, try out the lookout. Very nice description of mountains on the horizon. The interpretive center had lovely descriptions of birds and other critters. Local poetry and natural habitat. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and would 100% recommend it.

Maybe because it's winter in Arizona and some areas are still dry, this is why the trees were bare in this nature reserve. I know that a nature reserve is supposed to be "untouched" but with the chance of wildfires in Arizona; I would think a little clean up would be in store. Allot of dead trees, dead palm leaves and overall yucky foilage. Other then a couple ducks on the pond no other birds or wildlife to be seen. The hiking trails were well maintained and very nice weather. The best part of the experience. Will go back in the spring to see if the trees get some green to them. And hopefully see some wildlife.

Took the family here to get out of the house. Only $5 per adult, kids 12 and under are free. No pets allowed. It was a nice easy treck on mostly level, flat, compact trails. But just a few places are a little rough and sandy. Easy for my small children and myself with a baby strapped to my chest. They provided a map and there's plenty of signs. The plant and wildlife signage is helpful and educational.

Easy level walks. Some trails closed from Monsoon rains. Will be even better once all is cleared and can make the over look. Mostly shady on paths.Flowers on plants that won't be there in dry weather. History on area more than I'd ever thought, some good some bad available in visitor center. Real bathrooms not out houses. Check it out.

There are some RV parks in Wickenburg, those would be the closest developed areas. There is also plenty of Federal land nearby if you just need a place to setup.
No not really, but pretty nice to Wade in...
$5.00 per person.
The Red-shouldered Hawk has been seen in the mornings, Rufous-backed Robin, Cedar Waxwings, Tons of Hummingbird species, Many woodpecker species, numerous warblers and many water birds.
I would guess during monsoon season or early spring after northern AZ snow starts melting off. Anyone else have any ideas??
No rentals in the preserve, but there are rentals in Wickenburg. Wickenburg has several places to check out, including restaurants and historical sites.
